Mr J has gone into his office this whole week. He works from home still but they are working on getting a product out. Anyways it was taking him a long time to get home. He took 28 and got caught in stopped traffic in the storms down there. Finally took a detour only to encounter a downed tree. Was able to get around it and get home. Was probably still better than 270 in the rain.

Yep I got split once again. Got the sponge wring out of a whole .02”. I am now calling it the Ballenger Creek Split as you can literally see it happening just about 3 miles out.

Has anyone seen any changing in color of tree leaves? Was driving along MD 17 in Brunswick. There is a set of trees that in the fall are the first to change color. There are two trees that are changing to their orange fall color. The trees are not dead they are just changing color early. Also while heading out 340 towards WV I saw many more trees changing color. Like the vibrant reds you get out that way. Is this because of the lack of rainfall and the tree just giving up on staying green? I have never seen trees this early be anything but green.

I need this weather pattern to change. Not only are we missing out on any storms, but it is causing the oldest Ms. J almost daily headaches/ migraines. I hate that I cannot do anything to help. OTC meds work sometimes but not always. And what she has to take is really upsetting her stomach.

We have had some memorable snow falls up here. Now if we could just get some rain. @MillvilleWx drag any moisture you can with you next week. Do not let the green fool you when you roll into town. The tree line behind my house is looking quite pathetic and bedraggled. As it is supposed to go scorched earth tomorrow, we will get no help.

Well we finally got a decent rain. 0.61” from that line. Oldest kid who shares my love of storms was having trouble sleeping. Told me it was coming and I checked radar and was excited for the storm but must of fell back to sleep and missed it. She got to see it as she laid down on the couch to fall asleep.

Not just downtown. Things are getting crunchy and brown down SW of downtown.

91/55 I live in a split zone. Have many a time watched lines or cells come my way to watch them split and reform just to my East.
-
Are getting some breaks in the could cover up here. Getting a decent amount of sun.
-
Full cloud cover up here. Currently sitting at 88/66. I was out in this stuff at a horse show yesterday and the sun came full out. I really do dislike humid sticky sweat dripping horse shows with no tree cover.

Yeah Point of Rocks and Adamstown got slammed. I am just up Ballenger Creek pike near the traffic circle and kept checking radar to see if it was moving up here. Lightning all to the SE for quite awhile. Took a bit of time to move but where I live finally it moved up. Ended up with just over .50”.
-
Finally it moved up from Adamstown. Pouring here with lightning.
-
I am sitting just to the East of that mass of rain up here. Painful to watch it on radar and be so close.

Yes we will definitely need to meet up. If you have never been downtown Frederick is so nice and a lot of fun. Great shops and restaurants. It is actually a destination city for our neighbors to the south. Parks are great and we have managed to keep a lot of our farmland. The Frederick Festival for the Arts was just last weekend and that is an annual event down on the Carol Creek Linear Park. And there is always First Saturdays and in December Frosty Fridays. And Thursday wind downs at the Linear park also with live bands. Quite a few distilleries and craft beer establishments also.

Getting a decent downpour over here. Home station is at .50” currently. Was out driving and the standing water in some of the lanes is significant when driving through. Need it.
-
Have a decent shower going on here.

So we went down to show today at Upperville Showgrounds. They had started the day as air quality levels were still ok. At 11 USEF put the show on an indefinite hold till 12:30 to do a reassessment. At 12:30 they have canceled the show for the rest of the day. And will most likely tomorrow as well. Good call as the air quality has progressively gotten worse here.

@MillvilleWx just saw you post in May Banter. Replied but am letting you know here as it is a new month. Sorry have had a lot going on and am loosing track of the days and time lately. But I can answer any questions about Frederick for you. Have lived here for over 20 years and am a transplant from OH. I live on the SW side south of 70 and West of 270 in the Ballanger Creek area. About 10 min from downtown.

Yep I have lived in Frederick for over 20 years now. Am a transplant from OH. Ask anything you like.

Mid May and into the show season full swing. Have done a few the past month but this weekend kicks off the official, in my opinion at least for us, show season. Double header this weekend with a start at Morven Park. Looking like the rain will hold off as the kid is showing around 1pm. Tomorrow out to Berryville with a later start as the show has grown in popularity. Kid is on a green bean (meaning he is young, inexperienced and first year jumping at 2'6") 17hh guy. Each hand is 4" so he is about 6'1" at the withers AKA a big guy! Will take in these cloudy somewhat cooler shows as I know what is most likely to come. Thanks to all who wished me a Happy Mom's day. I have been in go mode and not checked in till this morning when I saw I had notifications. Hope everyone has an amazing weekend!

2.29" Friday 0.04" Saturday 1.71" yesterday 4.04" total for the event.
-
So 2.27” on Friday, .04” Saturday and so far .54” today. And looking at radar the rain train will continue rolling through here today.
-
10:45 and 2.19” in my station.

So last year the older Ms J had prom on a day like today. And ironically the younger Miss J has prom today. If it is like last year the rain did get lighter later in the afternoon and allowed the kids to get pictures.

Had an issue with my rain gauge yesterday. Had cleaned it out last week but it only recovered.06’. But really came here to say I was trying to beat the advance of that line all day. Was at a horse show down in Warrenton. The younger Miss J finished around 11 and we loaded up and headed out. I use my friends truck and trailer and they now have the new Ford Lightning. My range was just below my trip mileage back to drop off the pony at her home barn then get back to Lovettesville. So we had planned a charge stop in Haymarket. Took about 15 min to get enough charge to keep on our way. Had a small cell pop over us while there. Got to Aldie and checked the line. We were still a head of it but not by much. Dropped the pony off and headed back to Lovettesville. Encountered some slight spotting of rain but not the main line. Pulled into my friends farm and could see it advancing over the mountain. Told the kid the minute I get the trailer backed in to grab what was needed out of the truck and trailer and toss it in my car. I took the keys inside, almost loosing my hat, and then sprinted to the car as that line was coming across the field. We had made it back literally seconds before the line hit. And still had to drive back home to Frederick. Drove in down pouring rain all the way. But the worst of it was on 340. Just West of Jefferson we got slammed with blowing rain. Auto wipers ramped up and we slowed down to about 40 mph. You could not see any cars in front of us. It has been ages since I have had to drive in rain on a highway like that. I am so glad that I was in my car and not hauling horses. We got out of the heavy rain just East of Jefferson. The kid looked at radar and saw what we had just gone through. Got home and pulled into the garage. After a 5 am start to the day we were both glad to be home.
