  1. Mostly cloudy over here so may not reach 60 today. 55.
  2. The Jakebreak is the official sound of the Pocono's. If you get high enough you can hear them all night long. 33 here this AM with our first real frost of the season. MDT is in the upper 30's.
  3. High of 60 today. House got up to 72 with the full sun. Still saving 500-700 in oil and electric bills so far since Sept.
  4. Late nooners. 58, 3 more degrees and we will be 10 over yesterday's zone for today.
  5. 51 out this AM. MDT banging mid 50's and is already at or above the norm for the day. My zone was raised 7 degrees from last night. Models continue their first flakes alert for Thursday-Sat. Wet flakes with temps above freezing.
  6. Made it to 51 here today despite all day cloud cover and one and off drizzle. GFS easing up a bit on a cold Turkey week. 50's for T-Day now. Too far away to dissect.
  7. #low sun angle #yearly totals #growing season over (??)
  8. If these figures are right and MDT does indeed not reach 50, they will come in tied with the 10th latest date to not reach 50 entering the winter season. I have been nerding on stats lately and MJS has been gracious in not getting mad :-). Ha. About 3/4 of years, MDT has stayed under 50 by some time in October. Some of this can be attributed to the lack of rain and clouds this year.
  9. Light rain here...down to 42. Looks like MDT might break their 50 and over streak! CXY made 50 but that does not count :-) Nice.
  10. MDT up to 48. They may need that rain to get here soon to avoid hitting 50. Today may be their last day to avoid the record I mentioned yesterday. 50 in Rou.
  11. I think car thems are underrated. If you are moving they are usually quite accurate to within a degree. I talk about my trips up and down from Blue Ridge Summit all the time because there is a 3-5 degree differences on some days.
  12. Sorry, I thought you did Long Rangers before. Was not baiting. We are at such a large AN figure right now I thought it was a good time to ascertain if it stays large.
  13. Partly Cloudy and 49 for noon. Any rain is still a bit away.
  14. @Mount Joy Snowman-Two week warning for your end of month call. Ha. MDT currently stands at a mean temp of 53.4 degrees making it tied for the 10th warmest Nov 1-Nov 13th in MDT history. With the warmish spell upcoming it would take an historical effort to get MDT to a BN Nov but the GFS and ensembles and to a slightly lesser degree the EC and ensembles offer hope of a late season cooler push to trim off some of the numbers.
  15. Northeast Drought Summary Generally 1 to 2 inches fell on much of northern West Virginia and parts of western Pennsylvania as well as southern Maryland. Amounts were closer to 0.5 inch in most areas outside New England, with little or no precipitation reported there outside northernmost Maine. As a result, moisture deficits continued to increase in most of the Northeast Region, resulting in the expansion of extreme drought (D3) into southern New Jersey while severe drought (D2) enveloped northern New Jersey, part of eastern Pennsylvania, southeastern New York State including most of the New York City area, and western Massachusetts. Several locations across Maryland, eastern Pennsylvania, and New Jersey had recorded a record number of consecutive days without precipitation (including Newark NJ, Trenton NJ, Philadelphia PA, Baltimore MD, and Washington DC) before light rains on November 10 ended the streaks of consecutive days without measurable precipitation at 5 to 6 weeks, but these amounts were light and had little impact on the dryness and drought found across most of the Region. Unusually high fire danger and numerous brush fires have been observed recently.
  16. Low of 34 here but up to 37 now. HGR never got below 36/37
  17. @Itstrainingtime it is already mostly cloudy here. May clear out for a time later but clouds are bulldogging ahead.
  18. MDT trying to stay in the 40's or lower for the first day since April 5th. 49 right now. Also, 2024 at MDT currently stands solidly in second worst all time for numbers of days 39 and below for a high when looked at over a Calendar year. Still 1.5 months to go before that stat is finalized. Only one of the top 10 occurred prior to 1990. These are TCC like stats but they are real nonetheless. (Edit, MDT did not make it as they climbed into the 50's after this post. They need to record one prior to 11/19 to avoid the record. May get it tomorrow)
  19. 12Z GFS dispensed of the long running Hurricane threat and is decidedly colder after the 20th as a trough sets in. it mostly has GEFS support as well. This does come at the expense of beneficial rains with the former offering.
  20. 47 early nooners. Today would have been a terrific day for Turkey bowl whether middle aged people reliving their past football glory or people "rolling" frozen turkeys. Sunny, little wind and upper 40's to low 50's.
  21. Our plants made it fine last night so it looks like we/Rou are going to be watering into Dec. LOL.
