Mulch is the great winter saver. If only roads counted, we would be right up there with the worst winter ever now. Have only had 4-6" accumulate on roads so far.
I was always suspect of those 1"+ ice maps (though not sure they are accretion vs. saying 1" of the rain would be below freezing) but surprised if things in the Laurels are not a mess.
Decent rain here and 32. We did get some sleet overnight so mulch is white...some roofs. Roads just wet but its 32 so I guess that is expected. Still fun to see some white.
Moderate rain and 32 here now. Some sleet on the patio so there was sleet at the very start. Some icing on elevated surfaces. I can hear the rain from inside so its actually coming down pretty good.
I am not calling anything I was responding to Carlisle saying the models were downscaling. No way there is 1/2 to 1" ice accretion when the temp is near freezing. That is all.
I hate to be a broken record but I think its incredibly hard to have a significant icing event unless temps are starting in the low to mid 20's (assuming WAA warming is why it is ice and not snow).
