Perhaps the most impactful weather event on Inauguration Day happened in 1841. It was estimated to be in the mid-upper 40s but President William Henry Harrison spent 1 hour and 40 minutes on his inauguration speech, then rode a horse to and from the Capitol without a hat or overcoat, NWS researchers wrote. Harrison would come down with pneumonia and die a month later.
