GFS back to what it was showing yesterday at this time with a low cutting into the US mid section and precip minoring our as it heads east, but GEM going with the GFS AI with a snow to ice storm for PA (ground hogs.)
Off our favorite small town, both the GFS and Euro Op's trended positively for the Ground Hog Day bash. A winter storm for this forum which all variety of precip. The track for the low to cut was shifted East again and we get over running into cold air supplied by a departing high. Not pretty but trackable.
But we are right back to previous years now where Voyager will not let the trough move out of his old area. It makes wild model runs from period to period.
Progs have been playing around with a little clipper front love on Tue. May see some flakes flying. Kuch's out to 1/2" for Canderson with temps near 30.
I am blaming this post as to why I soared above freezing today. You tempted the heat. MDT did hold to a 25 or 26 so far so they were 3-4 below guidance.
I fear we will be left with just piles here by Monday if not Sunday. Anything left Sunday is going to take a beating with some possible 40's. It is too bad we could not sneak a snow in before the next 3-4 day cold attack next week. Later next week is looking downright frigid on some guidance.
Euro cuts out that first piece of energy so far west that our "system" is actually a new low that forms in the gulf and rides the apps. That would be JNS wet special.
I was not questioning your temp, but the NWS temps I looked at are pointing toward it getting into the mid to upper 20's still. Even if not 29, 26 or better is fine for the forecast. THV is making a run for 30 after being -8 this AM.
Icon, GFS and CMC all have the Final Week of January Setback on their panels still but different days. Timing and length is the key to our potential Groundhog Day winter storm. Here is GFS
