So they really are throwing down the gauntlet and recording this as the third least snowiest winter regardless of March. Average of 30 for a low is indeed a really "warm" stat.
I love that area. When I lived in Florida we would go to Belleair Beach a lot...just above Indian Rocks. The West Coast is the good coast! LOL. Supposed to be plenty hot as well...at least the start of your trip. Up near 90.
I am prepared to drive home end of week if I have to avoid airports by that time.
Today was the most wintry day of the year for me. It snow on and off all day in waves, the temp never broke 32 and the wind was pretty viscous. I was not in town when we got the 2-6" snow earlier this year.
Most winters/early springs I would totally agree but hard to assume as such this year. But not punting the chance. I have punted there being a long period of cold and blowing snow anytime until next Winter. If we get snow I think its going to be a slop fest.
LOL, its just random flakes sticking to the ice. Every now and then the snow bursts up to sn ---- (minus, minus, minus) but is mostly just occasionally flurries.
This was a big point of my post a week or so ago....about what I would consider low scores in model late MR or LR tracks (at least for PA) compared to what actually happened. A lot of those that went over Southern or CentraI PA were shown under us 7-10 days out. Not all the storms were cutters as a lot of them hit a wall when they got to our latitude but the amount of them that went almost right over us was extraordinaire to me.
I think someone east of the mountains might have a car topper accum by tomorrow AM. NWS has it in their zones and even the GFS shows it now. Cold air chasing moisture though....
They have actually had a very cold winter there so funny you say that. Lots of days in the 40's. (Central Florida North of Orlando). If they are jealous of anything though it is the mountain views. LOL.
Somewhere in the US there are wind enthusiasts who talk about the LSV like we talk about the Tug Hill Plateau for snow. "I had winds of 10-20 today but that's nothing compared to my cabin in Enola which gusts to 50 several times a winter!".
This year lots of cold snaps have fallen by the way side as time has drawn close but temps of 0-10 the second week of March will do some damage to the average Spring plants that will be in full bloom by that point due to several days in the 60's prior.
