  1. Robert Gamble of WxSouth's post on Facebook today... Smooth sailing ahead this week, except tomorrow in VA, Carolinas down to Florida with mainly light precip. There could be an hour or 2 in the NC piedmont early morning for very brief light freezing rain or a sleet pellet, then temps go above 32 ---but will be a raw, cold Monday east of the Apps. Then just a series of dry fronts but much sunnier weather to finish out the week most of the central and Southeast US. The next system with any potential for development of Gulf moisture will be Saturday night and Sunday--very little chance though, but worth a watch in GA, FL, Carolinas for possibly some precip. That is followed by another pretty sharp cool down, that won't last too long.
  2. 54 degrees and raining in Oak Ridge, TN.
  3. I was amazed today at the difference in snow amounts in my town Oak Ridge. I live on a ridge in the center of the city and we received a coating of snow. I went for a walk in the south eastern section of town today, down in the "bottom land" near Melton Hill Lake and they had a good 1 1/2 inches of snow and icy roads in places.
  4. Just took the dog out for a pee and almost fell on my arse. Snowing nicely here in Oak Ridge and the ground is coated. Everyone be careful out there; it's slickery!
  5. Light snow started falling here in Oak Ridge about 20 minutes ago. Temp is 36 degrees.
  6. Does this Friday/Saturday event warrant a separate thread?
  7. Robert Gamble's (WxSouth's) preliminary take...
  8. We received a tad over 3 inches at my house in Oak Ridge, but driving around town there appears to be less snow. I live on a ridge though and this storm was definitely elevation dependent. Was a treat this morning watching two foxes playing!
  9. So we're not getting the "finger" as bad as we were?
  10. I also think Morristown tends to be more conservative with their forecasting.
  11. This storm reminds me somewhat of the storm we had in Feb 1996. Everyone was predicting ice or rain, no snow for our area in the ETN valley, and here in Anderson County we ended up getting pounded. Sleet fell for about 30 minutes then turned to snow. Almost 2 feet and the hardest I've ever seen snow fall. Made for many days of awesome sledding!
  12. I get that this storm is difficult to forecast, but really surprised that NWS has issued absolutely nothing for the east TN Valley. I would expect at least a Hazardous Weather statement of some sort since we have the possibility of wintry precip in the area. It's just odd.
  13. Snow and sleet just started in Oak Ridge at 3:02. 37 degrees.
  14. Light rain and 48 degrees here in Oak Ridge, TN at 10:25am.
  15. Maybe start a separate thread for 2020/2021 season?
  16. Snow falling in Oak Ridge! NOAA has us at 39 degrees. Thanks to all who are sharing there snow pics! Let er rip, tater chip!
