  1. In this case, both situations are possible. Shallow stratus and deeper clouds with a warm layer.
  2. Of course the sounding @MN Transplant posted says I may be full of crap
  3. At this point is probably not a warm layer, it’s just shallow stratus. Clouds aren’t deep enough to have ice nuclei available for snow crystals. So you get weak precipitation as fzdz.
  4. Freezing drizzle is icing everything up. Untouched sleet covered driveways and sidewalks are just a solid glacier, can walk across without leaving a trail. Plowed surfaces are now skating rinks. Kids are missing out on a bunch of snow days.
  5. You hear my footsteps yet @NorthArlington101 @H2O?? Omar common’ ya’ll.
  6. Wow, yeah that’s nuts. Just under 16” as of today IMBY.
  7. You beat me by 0.8”! Actually, that sounding looked exactly as predicted by the models yesterday afternoon. I checked... maybe even better since IAD sounding was actually drier in the warm layer. Figured that would easily wet bulb below freezing for our snow thump. Obviously that didn’t work out.
  8. Live stream of the Perseverance rover landing on Mars starts in 5 minutes! Landing it just before 4pm! Watch on YouTube.
  9. lol everyone look at the FNG
  10. 1" of sleet! Wiped scraped my snowboard sleetboard. 0.4" in the last hour. Man, what could have been with these rates...
  11. Least exciting winter meso ever lol. "precipitation will end soon" lol
  12. Puking pellets! Ripping BBs!
  13. Correlation coefficient is off the charts over me right now! 0.8+! @mattie g
  14. 0.6" sleet now. 0.2" last hour.
  15. Yellowed/oranged but still 90% sleet.
  16. Snow trying to mix in again. At these rates, if I could hold snow for any amount of time it would really pile up. But that probably won't happen.
  17. HoCo is literally surrounded by yellows and oranges
  18. Oh look, HoCo is getting split by heavy bands. Imagine that
  19. I mean, those are always rules to live by in the MA. But the last minute drying trend, the major mixing for every storm, marginal cold air, etc., etc., etc. Could have a LOT more snow this winter with minimal changes.
  20. In the end, yeah. I have lots of thoughts and I'll type out some long post in a few weeks.
  21. Well slap my ass and call me Sally. Some snowflakes mixing in in Columbia. @North Balti Zen! @nw baltimore wx!
  22. We have definitely had shit luck this year. This blocking plus so many storms and barely going to scrape our way to median snowfall or so in the 'burbs.
