WBAL showed video of Ellicott City last night. I believe they got a FFW yesterday with about 3” of rain plus whatever had fallen the day before. But it seemed the first steps of the new flood mitigation channels worked as designed.
I was on work travel to Flagstaff, AZ, this past week. Noticeable how much everything has greened up here. On a different note, I think Flagstaff has my ideal climate. Lots of snow and never really gets to 90.
With the Niña looking fairly weak, that gives me more tempered optimism than I had a few months ago. PDO looks about as bad as can be though…I think we probably get a 1-2 week wintry period at some point. Hopefully we can maximize it.
Had the windows open today for the first time in probably close to 2 months. Wish we could stay at this weather for August then start stepping down next month.
CoCoRaHS has a huge range over HoCo last few days. One closest to me seems lower than I’d guess, but I think there are some very big gradients over short distances.
It’s a lot patchier east of DC certainly. I think areas north of I70 and west of I83 have done pretty well. The rest of us are more hit and miss. Think I’m in the 2-2.5” range since Wednesday.
