  1. Good catch on the humidity and temp. Not a slam dunk, but definitely suspect. The repaving of the apron at BWI seemed to make a real difference a few years ago. Typically pushed BWI temps closer to DCA vs IAD as before. But the min temp readings the last few weeks have surprised me.
  2. That was a record low at BWI and earliest first freeze since 2006.
  3. BWI has been colder than MBY I think every or nearly every cool morning since this season. Very big change from previous years. Not sure what has changed…
  4. Damn. First freeze at BWI officially. Hit 32.
  5. 38 at home, BWI down to 34. BWI has been a cold spot this fall. Not sure if that’s random variance or if they adjusted something about the measurements.
  6. BWI hit 35 this morning, which is a typical mark for frost on the ground. I was curious if and how October frost frequency has changed over my life, so here’s the last 40 years. Mean and median days with frost hasn’t actually changed too much (2-3 days for both), but the months with numerous frosts haven’t been since in a couple decades. 2024 is month to date.
  7. Surprised to see some frost on neighborhood rooftops
  8. That stopped. Only 39. Meh.
  9. Radiating well. Down to 44 already.
  10. Once I found it, I could see it naked eye as a long faint smudge. iPhone exposure was 2-3 seconds.
  11. Down to 40 at 2am and then slightly warmed toward dawn.
  12. Frost advisory for northern MD
  13. Colors have popped a lot in the last 5 days. I’d expect them to continue changing quickly this week with cool weather. Just seems leaf drop is happening almost as quickly as they change color
  14. This clearly got slowed down by 4-6 hours
  15. On paper, easiest stretch of the schedule coming up. Need to take care of business.
  16. Front goes through around 7-10z tomorrow morning west to east. Our first midnight high of the season for tomorrow??
  17. Patchy frost in the USDA farm fields north of Greenbelt. Car thermometer read 38.
  18. My daughter went out around 1020-1030 last night and caught the beginning of the second substorm. Wish we knew it was coming! PSA to all my neighbors…you don’t have to keep your porch lights on 24/7. It’s bad for birds, bugs, and viewing the night sky.
