  1. Yup. Subsidence on the outside of that band. Need upward motion for good dendrite formation.
  2. I’m up to 0.3” now…1” looks tough as is. Pixie dust flakes are killing us because they have sub 10:1 ratios while we’re also just getting less precip. At least this snow will stick around for a couple days!
  3. That band is acting like a wall for the moisture and also giving us subsidence. So it goes. Still a scenic happy hour as I crack my second beer!
  4. Yeah, not much yet. I’ll give it another 1-2 hours and hopefully we see something. That band to our south is just sucking it all up (to their benefit).
  5. Still mostly pixie dust but things are whitening up. Can see heavier echoes on radar slowly but steadily expanding.
  6. Cool. I will say, many of the progs today showed banding (with more like 2-4") along a CHO-DC-Annapolis line. And look where it's showing up now... Still hoping for 2" IMBY...
  7. Temp down to 33 with just pixie dust falling. What seems likely to happen is that between 5-8pm, the radar should really light up as we starting getting some good moisture flux into the area from the developing storm. All the models show this in one form or another. Given the evidence we've seen today that dynamics and snow growth is favorable, I think we're all in for a pleasant evening with good snow ratios. And with falling temps and none of this brutal January sun angle, we should accumulate efficiently. Then at some point, we'll lose that moisture and energy as things consolidate offshore and things will peter out. Wild card then is how far west can the coastal precip push. @MillvilleWx, that look right to you?
  8. Forget the snowboard, I’m measuring sideways off my tree
  9. Very pretty outside. Temp under 35 and mulch and grass getting that “shiny” sort of look in spots when it starts accumulating when temps are above freezing.
  10. It’s a IMBY game. But you probably will be over 10” for January after this event? Think that’s still a pretty solid month.
  11. Lazily falling medium sized flakes. Temp back down to 36 so the flakes are screaming in agony a little less.
  12. If I get about what I expect today (1-3"), this month will potentially be the 3rd snowiest month I've had IMBY since 2009-2010! Only topped by January 2016 (duh) and February 2014. Could this month have been greater? Probably. Is it a disappointment? RUcrazy??
  13. Holy hell. I could see eastern Harford and Cecil counties hitting 6" maybe?
  14. Thanks all! Got meetings until 5pm and then have friends coming over. But I'll be drinking then!
  15. Looks like an increase to me? https://www.weather.gov/lwx/winter I was in the 1-2" range this morning.
  16. Pixie dust flurries again. With an air temp of 37, I can hear their screams of agony as they are instantly vaporized.
  17. He and HM have been killing it with this storm. Especially for our area on the fringe of the coastal.
  18. Hey, I didn’t say it would snow in DC and points south. I’m not crazy
  19. Jeez. I get it to some degree when we need 20-30F of cooling and the ground is warm to the touch like back on Jan 3. But today?
