  1. It has been really windy here (but that happens all the time in winter). Its tough to tell how much it snowed with all the drifting, but I would have guessed 6-8 inches here in town, which makes 10 inches a reasonable possibility since he's up on the ridge. It seems like we would have had many more blizzard warnings over the years if these count. Although these storms have been nice events, they are hardly that unusual.
  2. Blizzard warning extended until 7am here. I can't remember the last time we had a blizzard warning, much less two of them prior to 12/5
  3. Canaan Heights just outside of Town of Davis reporting 10.1" overnight. 13 degrees and miserable with the wind out there.
  4. I miss clippers so much. The lack of them the last decade is why our totals here have dropped off the ledge.
  5. This is why I'm glad I'm not responsible for measuring snow up here. Impossible with the wind (and typically fluffy snow} Although its now turning into a wet windblown snow, which is unusual.
  6. I'm hearing that its the first Blizzard Warning in WV since hurricane Sandy in 2012. Nothing will ever beat that event.
  7. The Lodge is great. Otherwise looking for an airbnb is your best shot. Its impossible during ski weekends, but since its pre-ski season, there should be some available -- I know I'd prefer to stay in town so getting to the restaurants/pubs is easy -- but there should be other options outside of town if you're looking to be in a remote spot.
  8. Its snowing here too. The main show looks to start in an hour or two.
  9. Its around 2hrs to Davis from Manassas, all interstate/freeway except a short stretch between I 81 and Wardensville, WV From Leesburg it may be more of a straight shot using Route 50, but that will be more single lane and a lot of turns. If you are looking for easy the highways will get you there
  10. Yeah, we've only got 18 months until we're empty nesters, so we plan to move to Berlin/West OC area in Maryland where we already have a second home. Will keep one of our homes here in Davis as a second home for snow chases and escape from the heat in summer. I'll still get in my snow fixes lol.
  11. No, we now live in what used to be a regular B&B [Meyer House] (until we sell it next summer for anyone looking for a giant Victorian style home). We do air bnb the space above Stumptown Ales https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/10855680?source_impression_id=p3_1732133485_P3dH7qx9zKHZTv4D
  12. There appears to be several air bnbs available this weekend for around a hundred dollars a night in both Davis and Thomas. If you go to the valley its much more expensive. I recommend staying in one of the towns for events like these, the roads are cleared more and you can walk to restaurants/bars/shops and get a feel for the area. Snowshoe would be good, too, they'll probably get a smidge more snow this go around, but the drive there is substantially further for most people.
  13. balmy 35 for the low this morning
  14. My temp jumped up to 88 degrees earlier out here. Brutal.
  15. Nope. Interstate obviously didn't know either. I'm sure many others as well, especially those who only pop in occasionally. Haven't memorized everyone's location, especially when they don't keep it prominently displayed. Not sure why you wouldn't just put that in your signature.
  16. For Stormy? I don't see it. 87Storms has Frederick
  17. You really need to put your location in your sig if you're going to post obs
