  1. 39F. Actually is cold outside. Simply amazing. I see a forecasted high of 63F sunny on Saturday. Unreal.
  2. It's consistently 3 or 4 degrees cooler than in town. Not sure why. Only 250 feet higher. Lack of asphalt and buildings does wonders. My spot is not a good location for t-storms unless there is an easterly component. It literally didn't rain for a month in July. There is a track just to my south and another to my north. If there is westward component, then I usually get split. If there is an east fetch, like several nights ago, then it's money out here. Should we ever get another coastal storm in winter, it should be good times. And the snow shouldn't get nuked immediately after.
  3. 49F low last night, with sparkling clear skies. Perfect weather evening.
  4. 53F. Gorgeous night and morning.
  5. Nearby weather station shows a low of 29.5F. Currently 32F, with frost. This has been a truly memorable stretch of weather. I would bet, historic.
  6. The weather markedly different here, I can tell you that. I'm still at a out 50% leafage here. Winchester has looked like summer weeks ago. Kinda weird. I'm only about 250 ft higher but it's just quite different. Rains a lot more out here. But its windy AF.
  7. 24F for the low here at 5:30 AM. Just incredible.
  8. 33f already. If that wind can remain calm..... High of 44F today. Historic weather day.
  9. 42F here. Just incredible. Biting cold when the wind gusts and clouds block the sun.
  10. Snowing here at nearly 2 pm on May 9th. Unreal.
  11. I'd imagine bars, restaurants, theatres, as well as venues will take some time for people to feel safe enough to venture. But there are lots of people out shopping.
  12. Go to Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart, Target, or any nursery and come back here and tell us what you see.
  13. Lol. That's too funny. I'm actually watching it right now. Some humans really do crave subjugation.
  14. Sorry to hear that. Prayers to her for a speedy recovery.
  15. I hate the wind, but grateful for the cool air. We are running out of time for these dry air, bug-free days. I'll happily take them. Would love a good hard freeze to slow the grass and maybe kill off some insects.
  16. True. As well as sensible hygiene practices and/ or use of PPE.
  17. No chance. Americans have long lost their appetite to cook for themselves. I do think you'll see the continued expansion of meal delivery for the next couple years though.
  18. You may want to compare our mortality rates to other countries.
  19. And for your reference, that may be an even higher rate than COVID if you are of healthy working age in the US. And since they're contagious, and not random, there are actually ways of reducing the risk of infection.
  20. It's been almost steady flurries and/or light snow showers for the past 3 hours. Definitely not in Stephens City anymore.
  21. Mine is not, because I decided a while back that the risk (fall of an all-time high market) was not worth the reward for me, so I went into stable value funds. But, I am concerned for every one else that may face an uncertain future. I'm using this as an opportunity to begin buying shares in stock funds again, although my company just suspended matching funds until the end of the year. I'm lucky so far; I still have a job, but I'm sure bonuses for this year are gone. Better. Well, what is the mortality rate in your hypothetical scenario?
  22. There are many contagious diseases. Does (or did) anyone ever leave their house?
  23. His point was you could make them 25mph zones in order to reduce traffic deaths to very low, but we don't (haven't) because the reward (lower deaths) isn't worth the risk( damage to economy, less freedom to travel, etc.).
