I agree, too many and it's very sad. I shudder to think about what would of happened as well if the instability was allowed to spread farther north. -

You're right it would present problems if other storms were being tracked. To go along with your idea though, maybe a network of smaller radars could be placed on top of cell phone towers. They wouldn't have to have as long of a range as the current radars (maybe only 30 miles or so), so they should be able to fit in a smaller dome and wouldn't need as much power. -

Agree with you completely. With an outbreak this massive, it's going to take a while to search all the buildings and get everyone accounted for. Especially now that it's dark out it's going to take even longer. Broadcasting reports is one thing, but speculating on whether those reports are right or wrong is way to early to do that. -

That's what looks like is happening. Might be why SPC put metro Atlanta into the high risk in the most recent outlook. -

ABC 33/40 said they didn't know the breakdown as of yet, but they said that's just from Alabama today. Also about the sirens not working today, mainly places were without power from this morning's storms, which may have caused the sirens to not be able to be sounded. -

The radar beams bounce off of rain drops and the reflectivity shows on the radar. The same thing happens when there's debris, it's the radar beam bouncing off of that. -
