  1. Headed to Florida in a couple weeks for my honeymoon. Of course Dorian has to show up.
  2. Not to complain, particularly since we're not very far removed from the 2016 wildfire season, but holy cow I'm ready for a good dry stretch. Also we made it down to 49 here at the house. It was 45 over on the elk river early last Thursday morning. Nice change from the heat.
  3. You were just late. They were absolutely spectacular early last week. The whole season has been 7-10 days early so far. Photo conditions have been pretty terrible overall as well with the Canadian Wildfire smoke, stupid hazy vista's and then the flood.
  4. The blooms have been gorgeous this year but the haze and clouds have been a problem for photography in the northern half of NC. Got this shot of a flame azalea yesterday evening on Roan. I'll share a few more when I get around to editing them all.
  5. This is probably the only time of year I'm ok with warm and dry. The rhododendrons and other wildflowers have been great so far and no rain to beat them down. Did see quite a few blooms welted a bit from the heat yesterday though.
  6. Just had the most bizarre thing ever: a hail shower. No rain in it, just pea to nickel sized hail.
  7. I'm sitting in chillis and was arguing with my fiance that it was snow not rain. Thanks for the confirmation.
  8. Got us some good flurry action here outside Boone. Can barely see grandfather from the porch through the flakes.
  9. I'm moving back to GA in a few weeks due to some issues so this is just mother nature giving me a goodbye show.
  10. Yeah there's lightning where the NAM/HRRR were advertising dry. Holding onto hope for now. Might as well ride the ship to the bottom. Came down off the mountain today and nice to see leaves on the trees. Just about ready for flower season.
  11. Yeah if this were December I'd be horribly disappointed with that amount of moisture but going into April any run within 60 hours showing snow is good to me. Had a couple good snow showers earlier which was a nice way to close March.
  12. 12z 3km NAM looks gorgeous fellas. Would prefer the LP a little closer to the coast but still throws moisture back our way. Maybe the NW trend will win again.
  13. I'm just down the road in Vilas looking at sunshine ha. Here's hoping for a few flakes anyways.
  14. I'm good with it showing this for now. If we don't see a NW trend in April I'll be extremely surprised.
  15. Shoulda started this thread earlier. It's snowed more in the week since it was started than in the month prior.
  16. I'd go with spruce pine. Better infrastructure to power back or get out. There ain't nothing out around Sparta lol.
  17. Didn't see anybody else post these. Still a lot of solutions on the table. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  18. It's rained a TON in WNC this summer. Boone area just had flash flooding last night. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  19. Right now pretty much every model dumps on WNC. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  20. Looks like 4-6+ on the TT maps for the FV3, but that would almost definitely be underdone in the SE facing escarpment areas. Strong, moist SE flow is the last thing you want to see and I wouldn't be surprised for some areas to see a foot or more. Only good news is that it's actually moving by then instead of just crawling.
  21. FWIW They were fairly accurate for NE GA during Irma but that's the only time I've used them much. Probably a touch overdone but no surprise there.
