  1. Remember when it looked like we might get something besides rain and a brief cold shot? Pepperidge Farms remembers. *sigh*
  2. Yep MRX has sleet/snow here overnight Tuesday. Looking at GFS/NAM soundings it certainly looks... interesting. Probably wind up being a 33 degree rainstorm but one can dream I suppose.
  3. Thankfully we've got Christmas cause we're sure not selling a bunch of winter coats right now. On the bright side I can wear my Hawaiin shirts with my Santa hat and not look quite as crazy this year. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  4. Currently 55.4 at 9:30PM on December 2nd. Bout time to move more north.
  5. The upcoming Nina has me a bit worried. Looking pretty dry for at least the next week or two and I don't really see anything in the extended ensembles that look like that's gonna change.
  6. Made it to 22 before the inversion broke and we rocketed from 22 to 38 from about 4-5AM. Lots of wind with that change, too. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  7. Hope you folks had am excellent Thanksgiving! I'll be heading in early to open the store up for Black Friday. Hoping I'm dodging flakes the whole way in. Update: no snow yet. Was actually a quite balmy 38 at 0515. I could do without the 40-45MPH winds though.
  8. Inversion looks pretty high up this time looking at current temps. We're down to 23, thinking we may get our first teens.
  9. Managed to somehow avoid the teens at 21.2 this morning. Looking good for some NWFS to celebrate Black Friday. 12km NAM looks like a couple inches at the higher peaks maybe. Curious to see what the hi res shows. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  10. Made it to 22 for the coldest morning of the season so far. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  11. Sounds like a perfect night for a lunar eclipse. Gonna have to bundle up for this one. Winds gusting to near 40 in Boone already but calm here at the house. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  12. Fortunately I take their seasonal forecasts like I prefer the roads around here during winter: lots of salt. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  13. Crisp 24.5 this morning. Surprisingly very little frost. Interested to see how that wave works out tonight. MRX thinking we could get an inch. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  14. Insane temp rebound today. Started the day below the inversion at 35 and currently 74. Nearly 40 degrees with a few good hours to go. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  15. Models honing in on a significant trough next weekend. GFS with a nice NWFS event and lows in the teens. Euro a tad milder but still plenty cold but looks a little less impressive on the NWFS, but since when does it handle those particularly well anyways. Leaves are mostly gone so bring on the snow!!
  16. Absolutely beautiful on the Parkway with the snow sticking to the fall color. Didn't have time to stop for pics on the way in to work but a beautiful drive. Coming down heavy up at Moses Cone with a dusting. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  17. Nice snow showers moving through now. Currently 34 here at the house so it ain't gonna stick but nice to see. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  18. Got flakes in Foscoe. Light rain/snow mix. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  19. Unofficially some flurries in Blowing Rock a bit ago per watauga online. Wasn't doing anything when I left the store at 6. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  20. Liking the trends on the 3k NAM today. Definitely looking wetter. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  21. Not surprising. I was out and about hitting some waterfalls with color today and it was COLD. This is one of the best years for color I've seen, though. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  22. 18z GFS with a nice NWF event around Halloween. I'll be at the Martinsville cup race on Halloween so I can pretty much guarantee cold, damp weather. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  23. GFS doubling down on a nice cold snap late next week. Still in the extended but nice to see it showing a widespread freeze for the mountains.
  24. First off congrats met! I got married down in Maggie a couple years ago. Absolutely love that area and hope to live down there one day. Had a weird couple temp days. Stalled at 44 on Monday morning while it was cooler pretty much all around. Looked like we were gonna stall around 47 last night but we made it beneath the inversion about 3AM and hit 36 with some frost. Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
  25. Wound up with 7.00" exactly from Tuesday night through this afternoon. Bring on some drier weather.
