  1. 6z backed off a good bit. 6z NAM actually tries to end as rain.
  2. 0z HRRR pounds the SW mountains. Widespread 5-9 up the border counties though.
  3. I missed out on the Christmas snow and never saw more than 2" last year. So anything over 2" will be a vast improvement IMBY.
  4. Been snowing all morning out on the TN line in Zionville but not sticking. Freezing line is just over the state line.
  5. Not to mention when was the last time the models got precip in the NW quadrant right? I certainly don't remember.
  6. Yeah it's a fun time of year to live in the Banner Elk/Boone area. Getting a left out of my road onto 221 is about hopeless after about 7AM. I do a little grocery delivery to the ski resorts when I have time and it's always insane driving around in there on the weekends. Last week was probably the worst I've ever seen. Folks going stir crazy and bringing COVID up here to us. We've had cases going up at the store I work at in boone for a while now. Granted we get most of the Florida tourists which doesn't help.
  7. Coming down pretty good now in town. Not sticking cause the ground is still a bit too warm/wet.
  8. Nice light snow shower in Boone right now. Okay maybe just a heavy sprinkle equivalent. Still nice.
  9. Also the 12z GFS is a thing of beauty. Great storm for Friday.
  10. A few flurries out and about in the banner elk area this morning. Refreshing.
  11. Not the fanciest station on the block but finally got one set up here at the house. Ambient Weather Osprey station. Budget friendly with good reviews. We'll see how it goes.
  12. If only that last word was realized rather than depicted.
  13. Cant figure out how to get this video to upload but here's a link to FB. About 8PM in Boone last night. At 7pm there was barely a dusting. Picked up nearly 3" in an hour from this band. Photo is from 421 outside of town. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=3796060243759393&id=100000663650926
  14. Great place to eat and reasonably priced. My wife and I used to go there regularly. Every time I work up there I still try to grab something to go. Love their chicken salad.
  15. The white Christmas made it down to Wilkesboro. Hate to be missing this one in the mountains (looks like 5/6" at the house) but glad to see some family. Merry Christmas folks!
  16. Made it to Wilkesboro in one piece. Roads an absolute mess in watauga. Pouring snow down here now with a dusting.
  17. Pure insanity in Boone right now. Just got off work. Good 2-3" in our parking lot. Heaviest snow I've seen in years.
  18. I always went up to the gap on Blood Mountain (neels?) when I lived in Dahlonega. Longer drive but I found more snow over there more often than not for some reason.
  19. I'll be heading down your way Christmas Day but I'll be down in Wilkesboro tomorrow night. Hopefully we can get into some on the trip down.
  20. I second radarscope. I use it on Android and PC. The pro version for $10/yr is nice too. And of course if you can get over the price tag the GR programs on pc are incredible as well. I've heard good stuff about RadarOmega too that Micheal Phelps runs but I don't have it myself.
  21. Yeah actually had another dusting at the house this morning with decent rates when I left at 430. Above freezing though so minimal stickage.
  22. In what I can only assume was a bizarre flow direction I had more snow here at the house than Tynecastle did 700ft above me. Granted we only had about 3/4" but Boone got nothing and Tynecastle had a light dusting yesterday morning. Very weird. First time that's ever happened.
  23. Left Boone with nothing on the ground and got home to a good coating here in Foscoe. Coming down hard around Salvation Army and roads slicking up. Nice surprise.
  24. Flurries reaching down towards Atlanta today. Impressive storm system. Sunny here ha.
  25. STILL RAIN HERE. 33 and raining. Snow literally in every direction from me. Mixed briefly but then right back to rain. *sigh*
