I guess it’s been worse there in E MA on the water overall. I think you guys have been on the wrong side of the warm fronts a couple times. Yesterday a god example . But to me ugh misery is July 4 weekend. The whole month of July09 was like that. -1 in July is still warm

I view the summer of 09 as that. That was cold and hellish with no storms. This had been warm humid and stormy. I get it’s slightly BN but the dews have it quite enjoyable

See if we can’t gin up a few storms or downpours with this nice sunny afternoon that has developed

I honestly have loved this. Other than 4th weekend . That sucks . I hate cold in summer. Other than that it’s been warm with high dews everyday and more thunderstorms than I could ever have dreamed of . Severe wx, lightning .. dews.. not having to bundle up at sundown . There’s even been some 90 + degree days thrown in around the area. I do not get the complaining unless…. Folks want to tan . Scooter spent the whole day at the beach Saturday lol. This past weekend was as deep summer as you get. 80’s, dews in the mid to even upper 70’s, tons of convection and plenty of sun after about mid morning

This portion of the forecast will still feature slow changes to the primary synoptic features. Expecting a broad mid level trough to be close enough to maintain unsettled weather across southern New England. Despite having a continued risk for more periods of rainfall this week. The uncertainty lies in exact timing of showers for any given location. As humid as it has been, it will be easier to trigger showers with only the slightest amount of lift. In general, thinking Wednesday looks to be one of the wetter periods as a cold front moves through. This should then lead to a drier day Thursday as this front moves offshore. After then, confidence in the timing of precipitation drops off considerably. It does appear that we will remain stuck in this unsettled pattern of alternating dry and wet periods into early next week. Localized flooding will remain a concern across the western half of southern New England until we can get into a more prolonged period of rain-free weather.

I was in Somers at 5:30 picking up Chinese Food right there on Main St. That part of town is very low. Basically the CTRV. As I climbed back home over Soapstone Mtn which is 1k towards Tolland , I could see the black clouds popping . Had I waited another 30 minutes , I would have been able to check off one of my bucket list items of seeing a TOR on the ground.

A WEAK TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN THIS EVENING IN THE TOWN OF SOMERS IN NORTHERN TOLLAND COUNTY, CONNECTICUT. WE THEN SPOKE WITH SOMERS FIRE DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS, AN EYEWITNESS WHO OBSERVED THE TORNADO, AND VIEWED SEVERAL VIDEOS ONLINE. THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION SUMMARIZES ALL OF THESE REPORTS. THE TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN ON COLONIAL DRIVE, THEN TRACKED TO THE NORTH-NORTHEAST, IMPACTING LAKE DRIVE JUST SOUTH OF SHADY LAKE, KIBEE DRIVE, A PORTION OF MAIN STREET (ROUTE 190), BATTLE STREET, AND ENDED IN THE VICINITY OF HICKORY HILL DRIVE. THIS IS A PATH LENGTH OF 1.9 MILES. THE APPROXIMATE PATH WIDTH WAS 75 YARDS. DAMAGE PHOTOS LED TO ESTIMATES OF MAXIUMUM WIND SPEEDS OF 75 TO 80 MPH, WHICH PUTS THIS ON THE MID TO UPPER END OF THE EF0 CATEGORY OF THE ENHANCED FUJITA SCALE. THE TIME, BASED ON RADAR, FIRE DEPARTMENT LOGS, AND AN EYEWITNESS ACCOUNT, WAS FROM 611 PM TO 618 PM EDT. SEVERAL LARGE PINE TREES WERE DOWNED ON COLONIAL DRIVE AND TWO CARS WERE DESTROYED BY THE FALLING TREES. APPROXIMATELY 19 TREES WERE SNAPPED, TWISTED, AND UPROOTED ON LAKE DRIVE. A RESIDENT OF LAKE DRIVE HEARD A LOUD WHIRRING NOISE AND OBSERVED THE TOPS OF TREES FLYING BY THE HOUSE. SHINGLES WERE MISSING ON A HOUSE NEXT DOOR. A PLAYSCAPE WAS LIFTED UP AND LANDED APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET AWAY. ON MAIN STREET, A SMALL CORNER OF A ROOF WAS EXPOSED WITH ADDITIONAL DAMAGE ALONG THE LENGTH OF THE GUTTER. FARTHER TO THE NORTHEAST, A FEW LARGE OAK TREES WERE SNAPPED ON HICKORY HILL DRIVE. THIS STORM WAS LOW-TOPPED AND DID NOT POSSESS ANY LIGHTNING...ONLY HEAVY RAIN. HOWEVER, ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS...HIGH HUMIDITY AND JUST ENOUGH WIND SHEAR ALOFT...WERE STRONG ENOUGH TO CAUSE THIS ISOLATED SPIN-UP. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE WOULD AGAIN LIKE TO THANK ALL OF THE PEOPLE WHO FORWARDED THE INFORMATION AND TOOK THE TIME TO DETAIL THEIR ACCOUNTS.

But the surface low over SE NY is moving NE. So it will basically stall it out and move it north a bit before winds go NW after cold front

Some dry air at mid levels kind of stuffed development today even with juicy atmosphere pike south. Wouldn’t be shocked if we saw some stuff tonight with trough . If not. Wednesday looks very active

Only rained briefly. Luckily we were are on summer side of front . So basically ended up an HHH afternoon . Plenty of sun .Dews mid 70’s FTW . Maybe something pops, but doesn’t have the feel of big stuff that yesterday did
