It is really funny. I hate to be a weenie but why not? I lived in the Cleveand area for years and it seemed the tri-cites and Knoxville areas would get these backside snows almost every winter. Something that never happened in Southeast TN. I then moved up to Knoxville about 15 years ago and we have got almost none of these clippers since I have moved, at least none that have amounted to anything. Is this the case or am I just imagining this?

Sighs of fun to come. At least we can dream. Snow flying up on the mountain tops of West Va. https://www.snowshoemtn.com/media-room/boathouse-and-ballhooter-lift-live-cam -

I know it is most likely time to stop hoping but when you see that low spinning in the Gulf there have been times we have had surprises so I will keep hope alive.

Never seen anything like this, Pea size sleet in the middle of a thunderstorm. CHECK IT OUT! I hope it is alright to post here because it does have to do with this system and it is not like there is a lot going on in the forum at the moment. Thundersleet is trending on Twitter so if you have an account, there is some very interesting videos there now. -
I was surprised to find snow falling in Oak Ridge in the mountains up above Oakridge, on the plateau, covered in white

We ended up with a little under half an inch but just a couple of blocks over they had none. Radar now has blown up again we will see if we can keep some mood flakes going.

Ground turning white in West Knox in Crestwood Hills. Got stuck under a band that keeps running right over the area.

We are getting a rather heavy burst of sleet or snow grains in West Knoxville. Hardly anything showing on radar. Kind of surprising.

I see MRX just took even their less than .05 in chance of snow OUT of my area in West Knox. It does seem like we have a better chance of getting a stray band in NWF events when we have a slightly more northern component but who knows? It is hard to get any accumulation in these situations when you are right in the middle of the valley.

Here is a shot from my back deck. I am surprised that MRX has not put out any advisory. The roads have to be a mess everywhere. -

Pretty good snow coming down now in West Knoxville. Our roads are solid white and we have large flakes coming down. -

Love snow cover like this. Something we rarely see in the TN Valley. Very beautiful pictures. We have some heavy returns over us now but we have some very dry air trapped in the valley and nothing is reaching the ground at present. -

Dont know if this is going to hold together. it looks like most of the energy is going to be in the south part of the state. Snowing good in Memphis now. Nashville has got around a half to an inch. -

Just a reminder. If you have a space heater set in a room for pipes that might be vulnerable to the cold you might check them after a rolling blackout. My heater is was set in my garage and the auto shut off does not turn back on after a power outage. It had gotten very cold in the room very fast. -

With all the hopes of a historic event changing the dynamics of the system it turned out very typical in regard to how it unfolded for the valley. Rain was pouring down and as soon as the front moved in, the moisture cut off like a switch.
