  1. You gotta love to see it. I haven't measured......I'm eyeballing about 10 so far--maybe more. An added bonus is the wind has started to crank--at least here on the water. Drifting is visible.
  2. Lights keep flickering.......branches must be hanging on wires somewhere.
  3. Last of my posts: HRRR keeps this going for another 2-3 hours. Early contender for the storm of the season for here. My P/C is calling for a new daytime 3-5. thought i heard a tree snap from across the river esrlier. Just now, we briefly lost ss a transformer blew. Power’s back, internet is gone though.
  4. And so it is as GYX writes below. It is just dumping. My favorite part of this where it says "nearly stationary". 443 AM EST Wed Dec 24 2025 ...An area of heavy snow will affect Kennebec...west central Knox... northern York...Oxford...west central Waldo...Androscoggin...south central Somerset...Lincoln...Cumberland...Sagadahoc and southern Franklin Counties... At 437 AM EST...An area of heavy snow was impacting much of western and coastal Maine and nearly stationary. Locations impacted include... Belgrade, Scarborough, Jay, New Gloucester, Wales, Whitefield, Bath, Fayette, Livermore Falls, Rangeley, Mount Abram, Smithfield, Frye Island, Winslow, Lewiston, Boothbay, Bowdoin, Georgetown, Albany, and Standish. This includes the following highways... Interstate 295 between mile markers 1 and 51. Interstate 95 between mile markers 39 and 136. This also includes... Sebago Lake, Pleasant Mountain, Burnt Meadow Mountains, Saddleback Mountain, and Mount Abraham. Peaks Island, Long Island, Cushing Island, Cousins Island, and Bailey Island. * Visibilities will drop quickly to less than a half mile in this area of heavy snow. * Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are occurring in this area of heavy snow.
  5. At least as far as mby goes, this looks like it could be spot on
  6. I'm 8 miles east of Brunswick in the middle of the GYX radar hole, ftw. By the way--I think until perhaps just now, that has been heavy, wet snow. Temp was hovering right around freezing through the duration until about an hour ago. Cooler air filtering in now.
  7. Just got up. Eyeballing about 8" with SN++ at the moment. Double digits look doable, maybe even a foot based on what last night's models were showing for the morning hours. First, coffee.
  8. Just got in from walking the dog. Somewhere between 2-3" of man snow. No fluff yet. I suspect that'll change once the cooler air works in. In either case, there will be a lot of snow-encased trees in the morning. Hope to wake up to SN+ at 4:30. Enjoy the snow all.
  9. More fatties out there now than you'll see at a Pickles class.
  10. Looks like they heavy band that Jeff's been enjoying is on my doorstep.....maybe 5 miles to my west. Making steady progress.
  11. back into decent snow now.....hoping to get into heavy stuff in the next couple hours.
  12. The missing returns from the GYX radar pass right through Pit2......very frustrating.
  13. Looks to be a little shy of 2" now. Looks like a bit of rain has mixed in......or maybe it's just let up. FTL. 31.8*
  14. It really is. Even with that, I ended up doing pretty well, so I won't complain. About an inch so far.
  15. I think the 22z HRRR is the last run that would encompass essentially the entire event in Maine. I'm about 5-10 miles outside the jackpot area. Temp tickling down very slowly. 30.4*
  16. wow---an inch already? That's a great start. Send it up here.
  17. From the updated AFD: The latest WPC Snowband Probability Tracker indicates that snowfall rates will begin to increase to between 1-2"/hr by around 11 pm across southwestern ME and these rates will persist through around 8 am Wednesday.
  18. Looks similar to here. Snowing good--not great flakes, but they're getting the job done. I had cooked on the grill half an hour ago, and already closed grill cover is covered again. Not bad considering how hot it must have been.
  19. Things whitened up quickly.....had a burst of moderate snow with great flakes. Short-lived and now down to steady inefficient ones. At least we dipped below freezing. 31.6*
  20. Anyone know what/when triggers the new snow maps from the NWS offices? They seem to update frequently. Personally, I endorse this one that just came out.
