  1. Conservatively eyeballing about 7", I"ll await the official NWS measurement. Never really paid attention--surprised. sn-
  2. Just snizzling here. Even if the possible second round sucks, the ground has fresh white. in any case.
  3. Any thoughts on how far NW things will get later on?
  4. Probably a little more than 2” at this point.
  5. How's the lawn thread shaping up, Kevin?
  6. Good. Maybe it'll melt my driveway glacier.
  7. I confess to having very little knowledge on interpreting these things so correct me where I'm wrong. If this is showing trends of March-April-May, how can you point to just March? Isn't it possible that March comes in above, offset by April/May? Thanks for clarifyhing. In other news, when the hell is Tip's February sun going to melt my damn driveway?
  8. Yeah. This was our first winter using our stove full-time (we didn't get a chimney liner until PD last year). I thought two cords would get us through. As it turns out, I'm reasonably optimistic we'll make it through February. Note to self: 2.5-3 cords for next year.
  9. Winter of yore. https://nypost.com/2022/02/04/california-couple-and-their-dog-rescued-from-remote-cabin/
  10. There we have it......the first Tip February warmth post. It's a day or two later than usual. Probably because the groundhog saw it's shadow.
  11. 495 was a mess to/from Marion. Slow and steady wins the race.....or at least keeps you from driving off the road like so many people did.
  12. Going to headed out to Marion pretty soon......hopefully the main roads and 495 are in decent shape. 28*
  13. Went over to snow here about an hour ago. Wasn't expecting that. 30*
  14. I really wish we could dip solidly below freezing. Hovering a couple tenths up/down. Cars are icy, riveway slushy and ice visible on the rhododendruns. A real beauty of a day.
  15. Wasn't it shown in a few plalces that CT would be the last to slip below freezing? Meanwhile, 6 of the 9 stations reporting in town are now showing 32.0* or below.
  16. Hovering right at 32*. Just got in from walking the dog--no sense of glaze though that must be really close to happening. Between the rain and snowmelt, it's rivers going down the street (I'm near the top of a steep hill). Even if we go to sleet, I think the ongoing flow from snowmelt is going to be making a mess out of my road. Also, the walk way from my driveway is under about 2" of water. That should be fun once it freezes.
  17. Okay--I can't wait any longer. Out into the rain with the dog. Hopefully no glaze underfoot.
  18. I only remember one when I was living in Worcester--probably 2004. I was heading to a meeting in Springfield. Just 1/4 mile from my house people were creeping down hilly roads at less than 5 mph and sliding right into each other. Made it a quick turn around and cancelled my meeting. I'm supposed to be getting my daughter this afternoon in Marion. Hopefully they'll have the main roads and 495 in decent shape.
  19. First tickles below freezing on PWS in town: 31.8 and 31.5. Four others of the 11 are right at 32.
  20. Eyeballing about 6-7" of waterlogged snow at the stake. Must weigh a ton.
