  1. You were in a pretty dark room in 2015....
  2. D11 works great for me. I'm pretty sure I'll miss a little snow while I'm in SFO next week, but if that's just a lead-in to a better long term, sign me up.
  3. As an indicator of how things look and keeping in mind that this is the discussion thread at 6:00a.m. in the third week of January, consider that: -- there were only 53 posts in the past 10 hours --of those 53 posts, only 33 were about the weather --with the look of events coming up, not even Kevin is tossing about how many inches we should expect --we've been able to surmise much of the size of Brian's coc. Thank goodness it's almost February.
  4. I haven't posted about it yet, but I notice it every evening. Animals pay no heed to daylight when meals are involved. If we should wind up with one week of winter, please don't let it be next while I'm in SFO.
  5. winter of yore. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/18/nyregion/vintage-new-york-blizzards-photos.html
  6. I might go for a walk just to breathe in a small bit of winter in the small winter of 2018-19.
  7. Sometimes looking good is enough. Certainly for her.
  8. Aside from a brief start as snow for some, yes. The question is whether the current snow cover will make it through to the next even we can track for 8 days. I envision we--and the general public--are going to be so jaded by missed opportunities and blown calls of 3' that in a couple weeks we'll get bitten in the ass by a slew of heavy, heavy events that we just don't want to buy into. -8.
  9. Rethinking my earlier comment, I might make it to 0 before midnight. Down to 2.
  10. Damn--I wasn't thinking about the midnight high. I doubt Ill drop 4 in 3 hours.
  11. Down to 5* here. Forecast is for -6. Best leave the taps on. Proved high for tomorrow is 1. I'd love the satisfaction of managing a sub-zero high.
  12. Does anyone see realistic hope/indications that mid-week can become more wintry?
  13. Hopefully it knocks the mid-levels south. Wind keeping the deck mostly cleared of snow. Must be really fluffy as it's not all that windy. 22*
  14. What's that from? Thankfully, i'm just in a minor if any glaze. Only 11* at Pit2.....nice source for the NE MA drain.
  15. At all levels? Perhaps we can delay the pings. 23*
  16. Likewise, Jerry. The other thread said discussion, too. No biggie. 24*
  17. There's a separate obs/discussion thread on this. Perhaps this should move there.
  18. BOX is still being ballsy wrt GC. Snow this evening, then snow and freezing rain after midnight. Snow may be heavy at times this evening. Snow accumulation of 8 to 12 inches. Ice accumulation around a trace. Lows around 15. East winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent. Sunday Freezing rain and sleet in the morning, then sleet likely with possible snow and freezing rain in the afternoon. Total snow accumulation of 10 to 14 inches. Ice accumulation of up to one quarter of an inch. Cold with highs in the lower 20s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph, becoming northwest in the afternoon. Gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent.
  19. Good luck with this, Ray--great seeing you. Meanwhile, we wait. 25*
  20. Based on the early alarms broadcast about this event, this could go down as an historical bust, particularly if there is nothing crazy ice-wise. 3’ to 5”. Not much Of a miss.
  21. I could use some rain. The frozen ponds on my yard left from the previous storms have been shrinking. I need a replenishment. Alas, I've go a ping-fest incoming. At least I'll have my power though.
