  1. I will likely put down some seed today. The upcoming several days will provide some natural watering.
  2. Thanks....I raked it out yesterday. With the upcoming rains, I feel good about putting the fertilizer in. It's not a pre-emergent, but I think I'll let it do its stuff and then put down seed. Perhaps next weekend will work given the rains this week to help the fertlizer get drawn in.
  3. I would not fertilize anywhere near my water supply.
  4. Bumping this up for feedback before I put down any fertilizer (before tomorrow night's rain seems like a good time to get it down). Advice on my 3 steps above welcome!
  5. Well, I think we're doing some major overhaul of the backyard disaster, so I have nothing to concern myself with that at this point. In the front though, I'm looking to just do a quick and dirty job without any real focus on ph-levels or any such things. So......I'm guessing I need to: 1) rake out all the dead stuff 2) fertilize--any suggestions of type? I figure that's more a concern for me at this stage than brand 3) seed. How long after I fertilize? Thanks!
  6. The blistering BDL temps don't help much either. Kidding aside--he does a great job.
  7. I'm seeing what an utter disaster the back yard is at this new pit. They once had a pool that they must have had to do some excavation for. I need to bring in a shitload stuff and topsoil to work that. I"m not sure that's going to be happening this year. I think the front/side will be salvagable. A few quick questions: 1) I imagine step one is just getting a soil test. Do they have those at home depot/lowes? 2) Are there any initial things I should do regardless of the test results wrt to treatment? 3) The front is east facing with little shade I'm guessing until mid-afternoon. Would you use a full sun seed for that or would a mix suffice? 4) The side is more shaded and is on the north side. I'm guessing a sun/shade mix would suffice on that as I'm not sure how 'shady' a true shade mix requires.
  8. Agreed. Looks like this is it until next year. SAvor it.
  9. Nice event. I'm eye-balling 8-10" so far. Still coming down at a good clip.
  10. When that's a bragging point on March 1st, does anything else need to be said about this shit winter?
  11. GON for the exceptionally rare win. What a kick in the nuts. Having the qpf rug get pulled and rain. A kick to each one.
  12. ORH still reporting overcast in the last hour. Radar looks like that might not be the case. My new digs are less than 1.5 mile drive to ORH--a little less as the crow flies so I have a pretty good official record nearby.
  13. You never now.....coastal areas of the Cape could still do well. Yet, my p/c calls for 3-5 and my zip is 4-6.
  14. The spirit of Messenger says 'of course'. Of all the damn luck...... Only in Westminster.
  15. What’s the deal from the Midcoast to 495 to Orh? Barring delays, anticipate a noon arrival. Should things be tapering off then? thanks (in phone).
  16. Nice looking system. I'll be driving back from Pit2 in the morning. For the purposes of driving, Messenger SE ticks will be fine by me. Note that I did call for snow by not buying a snowblower. Of all the luck.....
  17. Thanks, Kevin. I'll be in Bath, ME. Also, I can't find the log-in information from last year. Can you send that along? Thanks again for all your work with this!
