  1. That's a helluva a lot colder than SNE at this time yesterday, and only 10* warmer than much of the region today.
  2. I hadn't realized the wind was going to stay up all night. Still howling. If only we had a blanket of snow, the moonlight would have been awesome. 27*
  3. Those do suck! In Brunswick, I was at $2.24 the other day. On a side note, I'm going to be spending more time at Pit1 now. My MIL moving into Pit2 is a good incentive. Plus, making sure the heat/pipes are okay here it makes sense. Discovery of the cat added to the decision. FWIW, we have a fair bit of snow cover here--at least through this week, and the dog loves being able to run free outside. Imagine the impact it will have on chickens.
  4. LOL. I'm going to go on a limb and say a -5 might have done her in.
  5. Awesome! I'm really surprised it was able to survive with the November cold and snows. I can't imagine there were many mice roaming around in that. Suffice it to say, she is really happy to be in and is eating a lot!!
  6. Yup--she's inside. Somewhere I think Sarah McLaughlin is shedding a tear. That's where this one is......a 1938 Tudor off Flagg. By Pit standards, that's a contemporary! Only a couple blocks from where we lived 15 years ago. My wife will be seeing another Victorian (also on the west side) this week. Given my new cat situation and need to adjust my living situation, I might be able to see it as well.
  7. Going to ORH today to see a possible new Pit1. I'm not sure it will work.....only 617'.
  8. Nice. I was surprised to see how much snow-cover has remained at the Pit. It's call gone come next weekend, but it's nice to have a visual reminder it's winter.
  9. So I made my kind-of move up to Pit2 a month ago. When packing, one of our indoor cats managed to escape outside and vanished. My wife came back the next night and reported it was under the deck. I drove down the following night to coax it out.....no sign. I stayed the rest of the week; she was gone. Then the snows and November cold set in.....we were sad, but it is what it is. Fast forward to last night. I came to Mass to make sure the house was still standing. I'm watching TV enjoying the return to my wood stove, and both my dog and and I suddenly sit up because we hear meowing. I'm like 'no way'......well, after a month Wilma had returned to a spot under the deck! I'm so happy I came back last night--with the single-digit temps I'm sure it would have been a struggle for her to keep going much longer.
  10. Turned away from my computer screen to discover some neat cloud reflections on the river.
  11. It's nice to have it cooling down again after the last couple days. 24* at 4:20 progged for 12*. Bring it.
  12. Well, we haven't sold it yet. I'll be heading back down there around the 20th. Primarily because my mother-in-law is going to be moving into Pit2. It'll allow me to hold onto a little of my sanity. I thought she was moving in here in mid-January then suddenly it was Dec. 21. Ugh!!!!! Once we sell the Pit, I'll need to be here. In the meantime, I'll be glad to have a little more freedom--even if it is in a house with very little furniture. I just hope I can get one or two good snows up here before I need to head back to Mass.
  13. Not exactly the picture of a quintessential December day in Maine.
  14. Just patches here on the coast, ftl.
