  1. Back to the important turkey aspects of the pattern discussion: https://www.foxnews.com/us/woman-hit-by-frozen-turkey-tossed-through-windshield-in-2004-dies
  2. Anything in April is threading the needle.
  3. Where the heck did the lawn thread go? Did I imagine that Kevin had already started it?
  4. Too bad people only live in 20% of the NE landmass.
  5. heading for a weekend in NYC to see Mean Girls after work on Friday. Enjoy whatever might fall, be it white or wet.
  6. Meh. It's done. Congratulations! Where are the new digs?
  7. I can't stay up for 10:30 GFS HECS runs in January.
  8. Are you saying an fv3 solution or out to sea?
  9. Let's see.....in 1984 I was graduating from high school in New London. It's not a very long limb to say, 'oh that must have been a good rain storm".
  10. Things will turn around in 10 days..............................................................................................................................
  11. We just need the next 6-8 weeks to be backdoor-hell to make this disaster of a winter complete.
  12. The blistering BDL temps don't help much either. Kidding aside--he does a great job.
  13. I'm seeing what an utter disaster the back yard is at this new pit. They once had a pool that they must have had to do some excavation for. I need to bring in a shitload stuff and topsoil to work that. I"m not sure that's going to be happening this year. I think the front/side will be salvagable. A few quick questions: 1) I imagine step one is just getting a soil test. Do they have those at home depot/lowes? 2) Are there any initial things I should do regardless of the test results wrt to treatment? 3) The front is east facing with little shade I'm guessing until mid-afternoon. Would you use a full sun seed for that or would a mix suffice? 4) The side is more shaded and is on the north side. I'm guessing a sun/shade mix would suffice on that as I'm not sure how 'shady' a true shade mix requires.
  14. Congatulations, Steve. Soak it it in! All models and filling sandbags all the time. Nice little event last night. Let's see if we can make severe season mirror winter.....a few rumbles in March and then a couple more in September. COC in between.
  15. Thanks for the heads-up, James.
  16. Anything beyond day 5 this year deserves honorary placement on Ray's Five Fraud list.
  17. I wonder if anyone installed. I'm going to guess 'yes'.
  18. I bet Brian can rattle that airport code off the top of his head.
  19. This just showed up as one of my Facebook memories from 3 years ago with the caption: " "The last vestige of winter 2015-2016: the winter-that-wasn't" Shockingly, this is also a winter that wasn't and we still have a solid cover.
  20. I think you could safely count the number of people who like them on one finger.
  21. The big finale of the storm rides off to the east while we post furiously in the lawn thread.
  22. I lived in Stamford, CT then. Great winter for sure. Christmas trees buried in snow for months. How much energy did that save? None. Certain brilliant members in Congress might claim more sun is result of climate change and that we only have 12 more years to save the planet. Those 12-year or 10-year claims remind me of the 10- 14- day modeling of winter's arrival this year. Yawn. The only area it would remotely (no pun intended) benefit is eastern Maine. That was considered when I lived up there in 2005 or so. Fell flat pretty quickly.
  23. Sometimes winter ends with a whimper. Sometimes they start and continue that way, too. #winter2019
