  1. ORH hit 81* for 30 seconds when the new Delta flight landed.
  2. The global warming crowd and the media will have a field day in 2020 saying it's been so warm we needed to move our goal posts. They'll ignore that it's a scheduled change. Mark my words.
  3. Can you post a picture of your Davis showing that?
  4. When you consider the average high in July (ORH) is 2* warmer than the average high in August, you can easily see the need for greater departures to achieve the warmer conditions of July. On the topic of the seasonal breaking of summer's back, the sun's now setting before 8:00 beginning today as the rate of daytime loss as really ramped up to 2:20/day. We'll have an additional daytime loss of 59 minutes between today and the end of the month. I suspect Ray's beginning to compile thoughts for his winter outlook......
  5. Wound up with 1.79" at ORH. That was some heavy rain for a while..
  6. ???? Friday Sunny, with a high near 79. West wind 7 to 10 mph. Friday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 59. West wind around 7 mph. Saturday Sunny, with a high near 76. West wind 7 to 10 mph. Saturday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 58. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Sunday Sunny, with a high near 76. West wind 5 to 9 mph. I do see an 80* rearing it's head next Tuesday though. Is that the 80's' you were referring to?
  7. Drinks at the Blue? I think you're supposed to walk slowly backward.
  8. Folks have been really struggling of late with these types of names. I think it's all been downhill since Morch and Napril.
  9. Just a sensor for a cheap thermometer so I can get some semblance of what's up with my backyard. Too bad none of the cheap ones only report humidity and not dew points--I hate doing the math. I can get mostly shade, but the afternoon's still going to get hit with the sun. *** on all those readings. Cape Cod: The Oklahoma of Massachusetts.
  10. So----here's my remedial question of the day...... I need to get some type of cheap station/sensor for mby readings. The challenge is where to place the sensor. I'm not going to put a stake in the yard to mount it. So, here are my options: 1) affix to the house itself (north side to minimize direct sun???) 2) there is a 15' high deck off the west side--I could mount it on one of the outer piers, keeping it away from the house 3) we have a 2-story unheated detached garage to which I could affix it. 4) there is a stockade-type privacy fence in the back (east facing) 5) there is a utility pole in the back corner with some growth around it (I want to keep the growth to mask the pole a little) Note that the house and garage are both white so that would mitigate some of the structural heating. Feedback/recommendations are welcome.
  11. Yeah--ORH's high of 77/53 didn't suck.
  12. Suffice it to say, we'll be through the first half of August without big HHH. Summer shot its wad in July. Move on.
  13. Seasons in seasons--the shot across the bow that summer's days are numbered.
  14. Things are shaping up nicely in West Chesterfield.
  15. It appears that winds at ORH had shifted to NNW at 8:00a.m. Was that the front already passing through? I didn't think it was due until this afternoon.
  16. Youtube was my first stop.....it looked so easy. It's not working. Ugh.
  17. Way non-weather related..... Has anyone ever removed a doorknob with a pin-hole detent mechanism? I'm sticking in the little simcard-like tool that came with the new knob, but I'll be damned if I can get the old one off. TIA for any thoughts/advice. Feel free to pm if not wanting to interfere with the scintillating discussion of dew points.
  18. A little extra coffee this morning? Why the hell do you make such a big deal of installing? You're at 75* inside.
  19. Wow. I would tend to be with the over-watered crowd. These don't need to be watered daily--perhaps every 2-3 days after transplant. However, the fact that this all happened in 3 days sounds like something more dire. Like you spilled some Round up on it.
