    That was my folks' attitude growing up. They saw no need for a pool when you could walk to the beach. The fact we had no money with 9 kids contributed to their thinking.

    Weaker trees already changing in West Chesterfield. I was less than 5 miles from the Thanksgiving tornado in Maine a decade or so ago. What a torch of a turkey day that was!

    Mowing and mulching done for the day. More mulching still needed (tomorrow???). we COC, 69* at ORH.

    Thanks. Maybe I should wait on anything that's pre-emergent and just find something that does-in broad leaf stuff (clovers, dandelionis, unknown).

    bump Is there any type of pre-emergent crabgrass prevention that can also control existing broad-leaf crap? It would be great to do this in one fell swoop. I think my seeded areas have effectively 'emerged' so I don't need to worry about that too much. TIA.

    Apparently we had a thunderstorm last night per ORH reports. It must have been lackluster--while I might have been aware of it for the briefest of moments, I slept through it. Looks like a dandy on tap today.

    Had a nice storm roll through around 2:00a.m. I more or less was sleeping through it rather than paying attention, but we did have one or two instantaneous claps of thunder. I'm surprised ORH is only recorded. 08", it sounded pretty torrential. Must have been short-lived. 2nd storm for the new Pit1. Not a bad start.
