  1. Anyone know what kind of tree this is? Some type of dogwood? (no flowers though). Curious as to how tall it might get. The guy coming to do our backyward landscaping project is expecting to start Monday afternoon or Tuesday. The disaster is nearly done! Also, be picked out our tree.....it's a red sunrise maple. They'll put that is when they're doing the rest of the job.
  2. Pretty sizeable miss on the progged 79* high. Managed 73.
  3. As near as I can call it, those who claimed summer arrived at the start of April have lost a full two months of the warm season. I feel sorry for them. Very sad.
  4. No plans to buy an air conditioner.
  5. Looks great! I need to put down some fertilizer with weed killer. Perhaps this weekend. Meanwhile, marathon lawn growth coming up beginning today. Should be pretty tall for tomorrow's mowing.
  6. I'm not sure if it's cheaper or if we don't get all it offers, but watch HBO through Amazon. 90% of my viewing is HBO/Netflix/Hulu. And, I"m loving Chernobyl, though I've only watch half of th elast episode. bed bugs??? Just down get satellite internet. It blows. Hopefully people hadn't installed. At least we'll be able to finish out May without wondering if the heat's going to kick on like it did earlier in the week.
  7. They all cancelled their subscriptions after GOT ended.
  8. All the cold drowned gypsies........
  9. Super. That's 33 hours for the trash heap. Wasn't anticipating the heat being needed at the end of May.
  10. I no longer watch local news.....are they all doing 10-day forecasts? That's kind of a recipe for busts.
  11. We have a gas jutol at the new Pit. As much as I love the smell of a wood burning stove, I really like the fact that there's no ashes to deal with.
  12. Thanks--this is really helpful. I don't think we'll wait beyond this year to plant anything. I just discovered this week that we have a couple chestnut trees tucked behind the garage (I think they're ours). How much of a canopy do they have?
  13. I know Kinnelon--right by Butler/Route 23?? I was in Boonton Twsp.
  14. Kevin can give you tips on this.
  15. I think that's the nature of fast-growing trees. We're looking for one ourselves....perhaps a weeping willow or a red maple.
  16. How long have you been in Maine? Where in NNJ were you? I lived in Morris County for a couple years 20 some-odd years ago.
  17. Yeah--we had a decent one. Heavy rains. Looking forward to the first 80's today. See how much the new Pit bakes.
  18. Not typically getting them a Lowe's though. They also sell oaks with the option of a box of gypsies.
  19. That was my folks' attitude growing up. They saw no need for a pool when you could walk to the beach. The fact we had no money with 9 kids contributed to their thinking.
  20. Weaker trees already changing in West Chesterfield. I was less than 5 miles from the Thanksgiving tornado in Maine a decade or so ago. What a torch of a turkey day that was!
  21. Mowing and mulching done for the day. More mulching still needed (tomorrow???). we COC, 69* at ORH.
  22. Thanks. Maybe I should wait on anything that's pre-emergent and just find something that does-in broad leaf stuff (clovers, dandelionis, unknown).
