  1. This is pretty wild. I'm not sure I'd stop to pick up my umbrella like the guy did.
  2. Meanwhile, back in 1955..... https://www.weather.gov/nerfc/hf_august_1955?fbclid=IwAR1WsC1WgUoW1BNRfjObTNEYia2YkBBTSy1-QGZdBX2hdUgPaaxR7YqmwAY Over 18" of rain in 24-hours in Westfield. Not too shabby.
  3. Only for the summer months. During the winter, he's closer to PQI climo.
  4. Half an hour of my life I'm not getting back.
  5. I don't think he was the center. I think he's squarely on the border of NE and SE.
  6. I'm not sure you're getting his joke. Did you miss the two pages of arguing the definition of CT geography yesterday? One of the most tedious exchanges in Discussion thread history.
  7. Meanwhile, the rate of lowering sun angle is approaching the extreme point, greater than -.3*/day. Just between now and the end of the month we'll lose 32 minutes of daylight. Weather patterns be damned, seasons are changing.
  8. Seems like it will have shit the bed by the time it gets here.
  9. Better shot for you than to those of us down here. Righteous.
  10. At 827 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Northampton, moving east at 15 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is possible. Expect damage to trees and power lines.
  11. Hopefully it'll stick together so we can get some thunder and rains out of it, too.
  12. The line's looking pretty robust. This is so much better than the inane last two pages of parsing the geography of CT and RI.
  13. Yeah, but that's heading into RI which for all intents and purposes is an extension of SE CT.
  14. Completely off topic.... Managed to get at least two flying animals (bird/bat/both) into the house through a screen that had slid open. Managed to get one cornered in my office (and got the window opened) and the other seems to be in the master bedroom. Hopefullly there aren't more! Ugh!
  15. Thanks. How do you approach it? Cut low, rake/seed/fertllize and just not mow for the next few weeks (with watering of course)?
  16. Holding off on any flood related headlines. 12.0z UKmet and EC came in further S with the heaviest rainfall axis while the 12.0z NAM and 12.3z SREF remain on the N side of guidance. Collaborating with WPC, the EXCESSIVE RAINFALL OUTLOOK for Day 2 was trimmed southward, and with other weather forecast offices, held off from any FLOOD WATCHES. Hopefully with later forecast guidance can we get a better handle on where the more favorable W to E axis of heavy rain will emerge. Reads pretty meh. Oh well, at least we have a return to COC after tomorrow's showers. What an August!
  17. When do folks seed in the fall? I'm thinking September 1 will allow for 6 weeks before anything more than a surprising frost comes in.
  18. ORH down to 59.0/50. Perhaps we might get into lower 50's territory.
