  1. Snow coming down at a moderate clip.. About 3" of accumulation
  2. Yeah plenty of people still get around it but if your caught your done.. I have alot of house buddies who are in the Poconos but their "address" is still in NYC.
  3. The great thing about working for the fire department is the hours and I only have to do the drive twice a week. The only negative is that I am restricted to about a 60 mile drive.. Not allowed to live past Orange/Putnam line..
  4. Hey...Nice to see ya again.. You live in the new snow captial of the northeast..lol That area from Chester/Harriman/Monroe/Highland Mills is a snow magnet.
  5. I believe the NMM is a higher resolution of the NAM and it gives parts of the Orange county & NW NJ .75"+ of qpf.. I think the meso models are the way to go right now
  6. 76" out this way... I believe parts of eastern Orange county were around 85"
  7. 80% of my street by itself consist of city workers... Including myself Distance wise ..Monroe to Manhattan is the equivalent of Smithtown to Manhattan...
  8. I remember when a few of us said enough is enough and petitioned to start our own thread. At the end of the day we technically are still part of the NYC metro but snowfall wise its a different world. Its funny how they think Orange county is soo far away yet Suffolk county is "down the block" so to speak..lol
  9. 12z NAM gives SWF .64" I think overall look for a general 6" snowfall for the area with locally up to 10" in some of the intense bands.
  10. We also might have ourselves some good ratios to boot.. 12:1 or maybe even 15:1
  11. lol... 0z NAM FTW.. MGJ -- 1.19" SWF -- 1.14"
  12. Believe it or not but pregnancy calls are considered low priority.., Normally she would of gotten a response right away but when there are 1300 calls holding ( 99% of them nonsense) unfortunately she is gonna take a back seat. Like I said before its unfortunate that ppl had to die in order for the truth to come out about the system.
  13. engines donot respond to EMS runs unless ALS is extended. Its used to "kill the clock" if you know what i mean. Engine compaines are trained in minimal BLS. Another term used to describe an engine is a CFR company. EDIT: And if they do respond they only respond to high segment calls hence the need for ALS ie. cardiac arrest.. cardiac condition.... unconcious etc..
  14. Nice.. Thats down on Melrose ave. I know that house. As for retirement I have 11 more yrs.. lol
  15. Here is the real reason why it turned into a disaster.. Enjoy.. http://www.nypost.co...C53QKOJlekSSDJK
  16. The staffing wasnt the issue. NYC even had mutual aid from other agencies throughout the northeast. The problem was ppl calling 911 for nonsense and bogging up the system. 911 isnt treated the same as it is up here guys. Its abused terribly down there. The crap ppl call 911 for is utterly ridiculous. So when someone who actually needs EMS, they cant get them cause that unit is busy with a toothache. So when you add all that up plus a blizzard you are gonna have trouble. It unfortunate that it takes fatalitles for people to open up their eyes and see whats really going on.
  17. Lol.. I wish it were that easy. Let me put it in perspective for a minute. FDNY EMS averages more 911 calls in one day then Boston does in a month. Thats on a "normal" day. Now add 50% of call volume to that number and then factor in the weather. Thats a recipe for disaster.
  18. Well finally back from working 32 of the last 40 hours of my life for the city. We all can thank sanitaton for purposely stalling out on this storm simply cause budget cuts are aimed heavily at their agency come next fiscal yr. Its a damn shame cause their nonsense created chaos within other agencies. Bloomberg has to take a hit here for his nonchalant attitude towards the whole thing.
  19. Looks like we "only" got about 13" or so.. That mageband destroyed E Orange county.. 24-30" reports from the Harriman/Monroe area.
  20. Same here.. its been snowing good the past few hours but now its coming down in sheets out there.. Temp of 16*
  21. Its coming down in sheets here... Tough to measure but looks like 8" .... Temp of 19*
