  1. The transition of scenery between mid April and mid May is the inverse of mid-October to mid-November. Sticks / brown to leaves and green grass, and vice versa. Won't mind the snowy scenery going on hiatus until late Nov or early Dec
  2. 32.2F with mod occasionally hvy snow, close to 4" grassy areas, 1.5" on pavement. At least it's good for a little nitrogen fix for the soils.
  3. Would be more excited if this were late September or early October but at this time of year I just find myself thinking of that meme, "It's time to go home, April - you're drunk."
  4. Hasn't been big accums like some other April snows recently but it's been persistent day after day so far. Just another way for me to dread this cruel month Cold 23.5 and windy this morning but at least the sun's out for a change and getting stronger - time to start the tomato seeds indoors.
  5. Had a light coating on grassy areas early this am with on/off -sn. Melted off as precip got more spotty but coating up again now with steadier snow falling. Temp back down to 33.4 April is the cruelest month
  6. Even a casual reader knows the context whenever warming is discussed, relates to AGW. Unless I missed all the posts (wolf notwithstanding) attributing warming to non-human factors, in which case I'll stand corrected
  7. Big winds, peak gust 34mph but the mount pole wobbles so actual likely over 40. Power out and multiple trees across wires around town, went by a pine snapped 2/3 of way up and hanging over the travel lane on Spaulding. Windiest 6 months I can remember, just relentless. Pack down from 16" to 6".
  8. Haha Sounds like it but I redid the windows in summer of 2023, they used to pass wind like a grandpa after a bean supper... the sound on the video was coming from the door just off-camera, which is on the list of fixes. No end to the fun with a c1790 farmhouse! The wind raked us all day, easily 50+ at times. Another angle shows the speed pretty well:
  9. It's been a 'wintry' day with these winds, to say the least. Relentless... even got photobombed by a renegade plastic bag tumbleweed from somewhere upwind... <with sound>
  10. Legit CAA winds here, blowing snow & cold. Deep deep winter
  11. Had about 3" in that last pulse of heavy snow after I cleaned up last night. Another cleanout today, including pushing back the banks which are now super-sized. Gray forecast was a good one after all, ended up with 8.5" total in three separate phases: 3" overnight saturday; 2.5" from light snow and occasional heavier sleet showers during the day Sunday; and 3" from the "backlash" band between 9-midnite (thanks Schwoegler...) 20" OTG. Too bad the coastal is a whiff later this week, would have been fun to get a foot+ to top off the deep winter vibes...
  12. LOL no sooner finished cleanup, put tractor in the barn, and it started snowing again. 3/4" new and heaviest snow of the day right now
  13. What a weird evolution in this one so far. Light snows overnight with temp at 19F, then a heavier band after sunrise, morphed to big aggregates temp up to 22F, then a shutoff, a couple rounds of heavy sleet but only a few minutes worth, most of the day has been windblown pixie dust and lower vis yielding another inch down, now back down to 19F.
  14. With 3" down and accums about done, looks like the Gray fcst of 6-9" busts here
  15. 20.1° very light snow/sleet mix. 3" new. Went to quarter-sized flakes for 10 mins right before abrupt shutoff, vis rose from 1/4m to 2+m instantly as precip went to very light. Now dropping again as some fatties mix back in. Crazy how fast it's changing, must be some interesting dynamics AGL
  16. 23.1F with tiny snow grains, 1.3" down
  17. All it takes is a cursory review of the 'pattern recognition' / 'emsemble mean' / 'why this time it's different' and resulting realities yielding melts, to know that the quoted statement is more true than not. Lol
  18. 18.5° and light snow now. 9" new, 16.5" on the pack stake in the field but super high fluff factor. Currier and Ives
  19. 4th time I've experienced a quake in NH, this was a strong rumbling & rattling
  20. 0° / -4.5° and still a 5mph breeze Man Cold
