  1. You can see it pretty clearly on visible satellite, there's some slantwise instability in there that's probably increasing rates. I'm expecting the bulk of that to slide across my higher terrain areas, but I'm not sure my coast can get into it.
  2. Everything is DIY this year. Raised beds, firewood rack, plantings. Which is funny because I don't really have extra time, in fact I probably have less.
  3. Who said I'm done with headlines? It was the mid shift's call not mine, but sometimes we don't sample above certain elevations on purpose so as to not skew averages over a zone. Likewise having more CT River elevations can skew us away from impactful amounts of snow where people live.
  4. Yeah I like bumping up numbers in the Monadnocks. I mean I should because I just updated the forecast to increase amounts there. The consistently dry layer lingering around the DGZ is problematic though, because that will hurt rates. I would like to see some hi-res guidance spitting out 1"/hr, but I'm really not seeing it. That's why I think elevation may have to drive things more.
  5. Stringing things out is definitely a problem, we need the rates for something special below 1000 ft. But the HRRR tends to be a little too warm in the boundary layer, so likely has trouble producing snow.
  6. Pretty soon I'll be meh-ing every precip event.
  7. Also just laid out a bunch of loam to build up areas in the front of my lawn and the delivery truck drove right over it this morning.
  8. Mine were definitely grubs, but so far I haven't seen any dead patches. I think my biggest issue is compacted soil to be honest. It is new construction after all. I'm going to try all natural this season and see how things go into next spring. Aerate and overseed this spring, aerate, overseed, and topdress this fall.
  9. It's definitely backed down on the widespread 4"+ amounts, but still a pretty broad area of snow.
  10. Since I'm not seeing any dead patches in the main part of the lawn yet, I'm wondering if they are mostly in the esplanade. I think I may try nematodes late this summer and try and deal with next season's crop of grubs then.
  11. Yeah I generally went with areas > 4" but I expected some of the surrounding counties to go to advisories for sub 4" amounts just due to impacts. That's how I would play it anyway.
  12. There's that lead wave that drives the WAA precip, but then a pretty good pause in widespread forcing until the upper low gets going.
  13. Man those forecast soundings around PWM are just stuck at 36 at the surface, but pretty chilly aloft. That 1000 ft deep warm layer is like so borderline depending on rates.
  14. Lots of work to do in the yard, and no childcare to offer me the time to do it. Just threw 5 yards of loam around the yard while my son napped this past week (mostly to raise the level of the yard to our new patio). But I did notice while pulling some obvious weed/crab grass that I have grubs, at least in the esplanade between sidewalk and street. Definitely approaching 10 per square foot. I've noticed a lot of blue jay and robin activity in the yard this spring so far and I'm wondering if that's what they are trying to get after. No I may need to deal with those before it starts to really kill the lawn. So far I don't have any obvious dead patches, but I don't want it to come to that.
  15. That 12z run just pop the 700 low over MHT and sends it due east. Pure mid level magic Monday.
  16. Big fan of the NAM 4.1" at PWM from the WCB, then dry slot, then another 5.8" from the CCB on Monday.
  17. Honestly even if you halve the NAM 10:1 map it's still a very impactful snowstorm.
  18. I love the two step off the Cape Monday as it gets captured.
  19. Is this SNE's February 2015 only for 35 and rain?
  20. EPS is a good look around here. Our forecast is essentially trying to mimic its snow depth product as a starting place, which is significantly snowier than the previous shift.
  21. Might be dragging the plant covers back out in the nude tonight... That Euro run is something else.
  22. What else am I going to do? I can't golf yet and I'm behind on yardwork anyway.
