1. Work is going to be fun in the morning. The weather alarm went off so many times and kept waking us up. The tornado warning is what got us out of bed. Warning has expired now but work alarm is set for 3:45a.m. I can't wait. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk

3. I say take them to Chattanooga. What could possibly go wrong in our area? [emoji3061] Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
4. It seems John is a pretty good luck charm for our area. He seems to bring some cotton balls from the sky with him over the years. This kind of set-up has surprised Chattanooga a few times over the last 15 years. I would like another surprise for Super Bowl. Not expecting anything at all but these things can be sneaky. 5. @GaWx You sir, are a living, breathing, walking meteorology encyclopedia. Good stuff!![emoji1782] Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
6. This is a very realistic snow map. Look at the little slug of a dusting of snow in Chattanooga surrounded by good snow for all other areas. I can see this happening. [emoji1782] Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
7. We haven't seen a flake fall all day in Ooltewah. It's super dry here and we've had good radar returns off and on most of the day. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
8. Pipeman! I was near your neck of the woods last weekend. We came up Friday through Monday and stayed near the top of Gatlinburg in Chalet Village. A little off topic , I know, but wanted to wish you and everyone on this forum a Merry Christmas! Pro tip: I'm sure all you locals know this but the steak I had Friday at Conner's in Turkey Creek was one of the best restaurant steaks I've ever had. Carry on!! 9. We were sitting at a solid 44° with calm winds for awhile. Temp has actually risen to 45.2°. I walked out back and looked at the sky. It's a weird sky. We had a light drizzle going on earlier and now it's almost clear and there are some super super low clouds racing across the sky. The weird thing is the clouds are moving fast in a South to North direction. I haven't checked the official wind direction in the Chattanooga area but there's no doubt they are low and flying by S to N. Edit to add: official current conditions in Ooltewah has winds from the south at 7 mph. This could explain the rise in temp. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk

11. I'm in Ooltewah, an eastern burb of Chatty. No wind at all. Temp is holding steady at 44° and we've had a super light drizzle for the last hour. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
12. We really need some rain. We have fescue and our yard is the best it's looked in the 6 years we've been here. With that said, one side of our yard heading to the back sits in the sun 90% of the day. It's starting to struggle as it usually does in the heat. My front and other side is still lush, thick and green. I'm almost to the point of just keeping the good area green year round and basically trying to keep the sun baked side alive but not worrying about trying to keep it as nice as the front. 13. I think the higher elevation mountains are going to do well this weekend. I say this because of what I just experienced. Don't think I'm crazy but when I was leaving Volkswagen at 2:35 out of nowhere an ice cold wind started whipping up. It went from dry to a pretty heavy rain shower instantly. As I was leaving in my vehicle the temp dropped to 41° on the car. The rain had some big snowflakes mixed in with it for maybe 5 minutes. As I approached the Ooltewah exit the rain stopped and within a few minutes my car thermometer had risen to 46°. I checked when I got home and I had a reading of 46.3°. I'm saying this because it was a total shock to see flakes flying in the lower elevation, even if it was for only a few minutes. It's like the sudden burst of rain had a cold core in it and the flakes were reaching the ground under an intense band of precip. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
14. The snow is about wrap up here. Radar returns look like we might have a few minutes remaining. Nice little 2" snow for Ooltewah. We finally have a white ground without all the grass sticking out. I did 10 measurements around the yard and my board. 2" average. Can't really get accurate readings in the yard with the grass underneath the snow. Congrats to the folks from Athens and north! Y'all had an exceptional Winter! These are pictures of our small snow. I want to see the big dog pictures from John1122 Stovepipe and others! Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
15. We were in a lull over 1 hour with just a few flurries. It just started back a few minutes ago. It's the powder type snow but at least it's coming down again. Hopefully we can squeeze out an inch or 2. I guess I can't complain considering where we live. Originally I said I'd be happy to see snow coming down. If we get a few inches that will be a win for us! Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
16. The radar looks impressive at my house but I can confirm you have to squint to even see a small flake in the lights. It came down hard for 1 hour and then went "POOF". Had a report of a wreck near our exit and 75 N is bad in Ooltewah. I can't confirm that, just going by reports. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
17. The concrete must be much cooler than the asphalt. All our driveway and sidewalks are covered but the road is just wet. 32.4°. We seem to be in a lull. Very small flakes and not coming down hard at all. It went from fatties to almost nothing. I really hope it kicks back up. I don't trust the radar returns as it can show really heavy rain and snow here when actual ground reports are light. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
18. That's crazy because you aren't that far from me. I'm 1 mile from the Ooltewah exit. Roof tops are white, cars are white and it's finally sticking to the grass. The mulch turned white fast. You should be all snow any minute I would think Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
19. Is it me or am I looking at the radar wrong? The precip shield rolling through from SW to NE looks like a typical frontal passage. Put in motion I don't see any pivot at all, it just slides west to east. Maybe my thinking was off when I thought the snow would be wrapping around more instead of sliding west to east, if that makes sense. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
20. We are just about 100% snow in Ooltewah. It literally took 5 minutes for the flower bed to turn white. I know it's just a flower bed but it's sticking faster than I expected. Typical things like grills, etc. are white. Surprisingly our sidewalk and driveway kept a little of the sleet. Hopefully that will allow for quicker accumulations. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
21. Actually it sounded like the sleet was letting up. It is because snow is picking up as the main precip type. The changeover from sleet to snow started at 1:45 a.m. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
22. Very heavy sleet with a few rain drops. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
23. 1 a.m. temp check was 37.7° in Ooltewah. 15 minutes it dropped to 35.9. Rain with a few random flakes mixing in. Son in law on Signal Mtn reported 32° with moderate sleet with a few flakes mixed in for 20 minutes before going to a more snow less sleet mix. Let the good times roll. I took a 4 hour nap and I'm ready. Please no more disappointment for our area. [emoji28]. Local met saying 3-4" with embedded area of 6"+. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
24. March 12th could possibly be called Magic March 12th if this storm pans out for everyone that experienced the magic of March 12th, 1993. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
25. This is going purely off memory but I "think" on March 25th, 2009 or 2010 we received some heavy, wet snow in Chattanooga. Temps were upper 30's and it would dump heavy snow for 30 minutes, temps would crash to 33° and we would pick up a quick 1/2"-1" of heavy, wet snow. It would stop for awhile and temp would climb back to the upper 30's. Snow again and temps drop to 33. I think we ended up with 2" of sloppy wetness that didn't stick around for more than 4 or 5 hours. Sent from my moto z4 using Tapatalk
