You're an idiot. I wouldn't trust any stats you post and you're still not understanding. I'm not talking overall numbers, just the bigger events. Downriver has done just as well with the bigger events in recent winters. Bottom line is our last 5 winters have sucked. Now go back to learning how to read.

St louis looks like the place to be. Usually when models come north some, they correct a bit south. Still a shame it gets shredded to pieces.

    You’re a handful and a drama queen.

Where are you getting the "Macomb" and "Monroe" numbers from?

I'm assuming the Lake Orion and Wyandotte numbers are measurements from you and michsnowfreak...

I do not live in lake Orion anymore. I have my own numbers. I moved to the Stoney creek area on the border of Shelby and Washington. I used macomb because that’s the town Steve lives near of. We have a “snow measuring club of some sorts” that keeps track. Josh is in this club. lol

Yes that's normally true but in recent winters, last 5, downriver has done better with the bigger events. Learn how to read and follow along with the context.

Numbers for the last 3 winters…

                      23/24  22/23  21/22   AVG

    Monroe      16.5      23.8     37.0    25.7

    Wyandotte  21.5     37.1       47.7    35.4

    Macomb      29.9    43.7      55.8   43.1

    Lake Orion   42.1     53.2      67.3   54.2

Downriver has done better in recent winters. Northern burbs, there's been nothing much notable other than 2019 nov storm. It pisses me off every year when places way south of here get a big snow before us lol. Kc looks good right now.

What in the world are you talking about? Sometimes I just think you just talk just to talk. you even know what you’re talking about? The answer is no.  If you want stats we actually keep track in all different communities in Southeast Michigan. Me and Josh keep track. The most snow is north west of the city towards Oxford. The least amount of snow is either far east towards Algonac or way south towards Monroe.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Now. The late 70s winters were brutal, absolutely. But HERE they were nothing really special snow-wise, except for 1977-78, and even that was much worse all around us. 1977-78 was very frontloaded, as winter was really nothing but frigid zzzz after the blizzard (though we did maintain snowpack into March). 76-77 was a tundra in many places and we locally got screwed in 78-79 despite the widespread cold and nearby heavy snow. I honestly think that the constant "blizzard of 78" photos that circulate social media start to make people remember something based on a photo not an actual memory. The winter of 81-82 was just 4 years later and is never mentioned despite being more severe here. And of course decades more recently are winters like 2000-01, 2004-05, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2010-11, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2017-18 and 2020-21 all of which easily could stick in a memory better than the late 70s here.

Josh, where we at with snow totals so far compared to the last 5 winters. Obviously we've had slow starts recently but I feel like this winter is the most zzzz. Obviously 2019 was a good start. Looking like we're gonna go into the new year with like 3 inches?

    Sterling Heights is at 6”

    DTW is at 4.8”

    last year at this time

    SH 2.8”

    DTW 2.5”

What do you mean by "technically missed us?"

Because the Detroit area definitely got slammed by the January 1999 Blizzard (DTW officially ended up just shy of 12", but many parts of the region did see a foot or more). It was probably the last time the region saw legit blizzard conditions.

Albeit, definitely a rarity for being on the wrong side of the low

Wrong side of the low.  Yes, for storm being on the wrong side of low 99.9% of the time it would’ve been a rainmaker, but that time it was a legit snowstorm technically, the storm “missed us”

The 80's and 90's were horrible for snow lovers. Couple cold winters in the early 80s and 1992-1994 but otherwise it was seasonably warm and snowless. Which ironically coincides with the last +PDO phase. Arguably it turned more snowier and colder at the turn of the century when the PDO flipped again.

It was not horrible in the upper Midwest, Ohio valley, EC and the snow belts. It was a lower Great Lakes issue.

Few highlights (1994 arctic outbreak, blizzard of 1999) but the 1990s winters sucked. They were VERY similar to the sucky 1950s winters in terms of both snow and temps. It's why I would laugh anyone's ear off who is our generation and uses the centuries old line "winters when I was a kid...". The 2000s and 2010s winters were like a different world...just leaps and bounds better winters.

I think there was maybe three storms from November 1994 through December 1998 that hit 6 inches or more.

Crazy that on the opposite corner of The Mitt I was living the snowiest non-stop winter of my life with 220+ inches in mby. I don't think I travelled downstate that season because we hosted holiday gatherings. I never knew of the contrast. Oh, and Traverse mostly got shafted by the LES even in December that literally buried The Sault, or it could've been even more insane.

Records was being smashed all over the state…except. SEMI. Storms missed from every direction. Couldn’t even reel in a clipper.  it was that bad. This winter feeling eerily similar thus far. Obviously things can change.

I literally said that a 1-2" snowfall would be a nice way to kick off the winter solstice, and that there's been no days of 2"+ depth yet. How in the phuck is that putting lipstick on a turd? I guess I have to remember that discussing the weather or weather stats on a weather board is no longer acceptable.

No. You miss understood me. It’s not the 1-2” that’s forecasted. It’s the dusting we had on the ground. lol. Yes 7 days of “snow otg” that hasn’t totaled 2”. It is kind of shining up a piece of turd. And it was lake effect too.

You sound like an ole fashioned CMH snow weenie…

…it’s happening Josh…you’re in denial right now but fear not, the next stage is acceptance :devilsmiley:

It’s lake effect dusting southeast Michigan style it’s not like we had mountains on the side of the road. It’s not like the grass was completely covered. We’re talking a dusting that’s just stuck around.

Oh I know. But 1-2" is better than nothing. Nice way to kick off the winter solstice. So far this season, DTW has had 7 days with 1" of snow on the ground, another 6 days with a T, but no depth of 2" or greater yet.

Omg Josh! That’s a true definition of putting lipstick on a piece of turd!
