I'm am pretty snowed in up here... haven't been to town since Wednesday. Models were pretty consistent in showing snowfall in feet around here. Received 16-17" as a storm total here, and I see MQT recorded pretty close to the same with 16.5" last night and today. I've had nearly 40" the past 5 days and my two snow stakes are measuring 32 and 34 inches otg. Winter so far seems to be picking up right where last year left off.

It's a lot of work. Still snowing nicely with over a foot now and a few more inches possible... picnic table

Looks like 10" or so of super dense snow fell overnight and still coming down hard... in excess of 2' on the ground now. Looking out on the deck as it gets daylight. Haven't shoveled out there all week and I've had over 30".

A few pics from yesterday. Watches issued for the next round...

Oh yes... I enjoy taking care of the birds all year... woodpeckers and black caps mostly, they're the only ones that stick around. Ended up with far less snow than predicted. Instead of 10:1 slr's, it was more like 7-8:1. Without power, I fell asleep pretty quick once it got dark so I didn't get a final measurement but this morning the the driveway has 18-20" of wind-packed concrete you can pretty much walk on top of and it was clear prior. Still no power... felt like the longest night ever, so quiet and dark. I'm addicted to my fan I'm pretty sure! Happy Thanksgiving guys!

15” so far (halfway to 30” forecast). Power’s out, road snowed over completely, no tracks at all. Gotta conserve my battery now.

Near zero visibility at times looking out into the woods. Already just over a foot has fallen. I'll get a vid but it's a slow upload so may take a bit.

I've learned living up here that, it's not if the snow comes, it's when. Must have had some freezing drizzle or rain during the night, just opened the door and took a quick peek out and I could hear the ice in the trees crackling. It's helping the heavy, wet snow stick to the trees even better. Just a matter of time until power becomes an issue. Glad I've got everything for Thanksgiving already

Just an incredible plastering going on right now. Have already accumulated what looks to be 4-5", and point has another 27" possible through tonight. This is not going to be an easy storm to dig out from.

A foot of wet snow/wind in MSP during one of the biggest travel times of the year is still a huge deal...a bigger deal than the fuss the storm's going to cause up here. Had to post this just because... don't very often see modeled totals for a single storm like this. Over 40"

looks like the western UP is gonna get smoked. Even a blizzard warning issued for winds on the tip of the Keweenaw. My point forecast has 30" in it, with the morning AFD hinting at the possibility of even more right in this favored area. I expect to be completely snowed in for a bit. CR 510 is the main road up to my area and it isn't in the best shape to begin with and after the blizzard last February, my road was one lane for 2 weeks.

12z NAM says 2' of that tue night/wednesday. It's like waiting on Christmas.

Ready for the first big snow of the season. If the forecast holds, myb looks bulls-eye for 18" or slightly more. The wet nature of the snow along with 40+ mph winds will likely have the remote road up here impassible for a day or two. Taking care of all my chores today.

65" of snow in the next 10 days... Better gas up the blower...lol -
10". Now there's like 3", likely to all go away if the forecast holds.
-
Around 20" of snow has fallen so far imby... pretty close to average. Def enjoying the more normal temps of late. Wasn't before, and am still not ready for mid-winter temps to settle in. Some more snow would be nice tho.

Nice! Like I’ve mentioned before, I can be in Marquette in 25 minutes and it has pretty much everything I need for whatever, and for me personally, Marquette's the perfect size town. It has the university, which is basically the heartbeat of the town and also gives it a youngish vibe, as well. Lots of non-chain places to eat and shop. Not to mention how beautiful it is, nestled next to Superior and surrounded by all the rocky hills. The town is an outdoor lovers dream, but so is the entire UP. Have never regretted moving here... however, the one negative is that snow is no longer a novelty, just a reality. Still love it tho. Glad you enjoyed your short stay!

No, not really. Low of 2 overnight.

November 12th.

East snow belts sure have been cashing in lately. Later today into tonight when winds go more N/NNW, it should begin to snow heavier again here. Meanwhile, overnight it cleared and with around 10" on the ground, the temp has fallen to 8 and probably no higher than 15 for a high today. Hard to believe Halloween was 12 days ago.
