  1. Fog has lifted some with just a tad bit of snizzle in the air. Door cam looking north, temp 31.8... heart of winter and temp is +10 above the normal high.
  2. I believe that's O'hare and yeah, they've had 17.1" this season.
  3. For as mild as it's been this winter, this map doesn't look too bad... especially MI, IA, and WI.
  4. Around 11" here and the same at MQT since the onset... 1.3" liquid. Light snow and fog continues. Fog at MQT this morning... snow depth there 38"
  5. Next to buckeye and jackstraw, you may have the third most hostile location for snow on the sub.
  6. Use to have 20+'ers... agw, remember? I agree on the subs tho.
  7. Those depths for the UP seem off. MQT in negaunee was reporting 37” yesterday morning and Grand Marais I believe has 41” OTG and I’m in excess of 40” here, so idk. Some others further west: Painsdale 51" Kearsarge 46"
  8. Will, those are beautiful pics. Really captures that mid-winter feel. It was def a beautiful day up here with the sunshine and a high of 20 at my house... had to dig the chimney out. I watched a video from the Tamarack location near Calumet and the snow depth was 54 inches, with a seasonal snow total of 204". Probably one of the snowiest spots in the UP this winter to date.
  9. I don't have any bat boxes but that is a good idea. I do have two bats that hang around the open area of the front yard. I see them pretty regularly around dusk in the summer, swooping up bugs. Very nice pics Josh! Is that a for sale sign at the end of your drive? 48 hr storm total 20" here, 17" MQT.
  10. Yes, I'm still sensitive to mosquito bites. It seems like they're a nuclear grade here too, and I have a swamp right next to my house that makes them even worse. The insect I have the worst reaction to tho is the noseeum. I've had golf ball size lumps from them before, depending on where they bite. Their season is about 6 weeks long and they swarm for 2-3 weeks. The 3 seasons here... snow, mud, and bug.
  11. I work the summer months at a bakery in negaunee, and also water the potted plants hanging from the street lights in the city of Ishpeming 3 days a week. And this summer I’m excited to spend 4 weeks volunteering for the park service on isle royal. As far as the bugs, some years are worse than others and my first year here was awful but you’d be surprised at what becomes normal. The bugs don’t really bother me that much anymore.
  12. Over 20" now... time to start cleaning this storm up. Roofs are getting a little deep too.
  13. From Indiana to just west of Gaylord, in Ellsworth. I've been here since 2014. I liked NW Lower, but it was like UP-lite.
  14. I know, It is amazing! From Superior to my house (as the crow would fly) is between 5-6 miles and has an elevation difference of just over a 1000' ft. I describe this as a snow belt within a snow belt. If the forecast call is between 1-3', I'm the 3'. Another thing I've noticed is that 9 times out of 10, lake events here over perform. It's still snowing moderately but was suppose to end by 9 am, with only an additional inch.
  15. Have picked up around 18-20". Snow must have come down hard all night... still snowing Deep winter is deep.
  16. 10" so far today... another 8 or 9" overnight into the morning hours. Lake enhancement out of the north should kick in this evening.
  17. Awesome shots! ^ Looks like 3" here so far with most 12z hi-res models indicating another foot by noonish tomorrow. Even an area between Ironwood and the Porkies that could see 2' possibly. Depth should exceed 40" by tomorrow. Congrats to everyone who got snow!
  18. Nice long duration event with 12-14" (or more) likely before things wind down on Sunday. Cold this morning, -6.
  19. I don't recommend anyone moving here just for the snow. There's a real sense of isolation that has to become normal. I've heard lots of stories of people moving here to retire or whatever and only make it a winter or two. Loving snow is one thing, loving up to seven months of it some years, is another.
  20. Nice pics. I don't think I've ever seen you post a pic of a sunny day. I know how you despise them.
  21. Persistent lake effect snow for the past 24 hours or so has accumulated around 7 inches here. Deepest snow of the season at my house. Picnic table now completely buried. Pattern ahead looks active as well.
