  1. You would be in heaven here. Another 8" overnight bringing my total to around 40". Mqt had an additional 8.5" last night bringing their storm total to 35.9". My snow depth is definitely over 50". It blew and drifted enough that all my work on the roof was erased. starting from scratch again. MQT also set a snow record yesterday with 21.6", an all time single day February record. Snow trying to wind down.
  2. It's a lot of work and takes up a lot of time, yes. I enjoy being out in the snow so it's not so bad. I've been slacking the past couple weeks with a stubborn cold and am paying the price now. Edit: This was meant to be in response to Cary67.
  3. Don't remind me. As of 7pm MQT has received 27.1 inches (1.75 liquid, roughly 15:1 ratios) since the first flakes started to fly late Sunday night, and they increased their depth by 20" to 38". I estimate I've had 31-32" and probably have an average depth of 45-48". Hard to say because both of my 60" NWS snow stakes have drifted and been covered completely. Still snowing at a nice clip and could see another 5 or 6 inches by morning... then clean up which will take me a couple days at least.
  4. haha! Someone on the board posted a week or so ago that there is no such thing as too much snow. I'm not so sure bout that. Calling it a day. It's impossible to be up on the roof in this, it's getting dark and I don't want to fall or get hurt. Tackle it after the storm.
  5. K, this is getting out of hand. I bet there's been 6 or 7 additional inches today. Totally my fault. I should have cleared the roof ahead of this since it already had over 2' but I didn't really think it would be this bad. I'll be shoveling snow well after dark.
  6. Better late than never. Winter wx advys across the w into the n central have been upgraded to winter storm warnings, Alger added as well. Winter wx advys have been posted for the areas that were not in any headline. Next wave of pcpn has been increasing in coverage/intensity as it lifts ne toward Upper MI. All of the models have a signal for a 2-5hr period of mdt/hvy pcpn, beginning in the next few hrs. With bands of mdt/hvy LES already streaming onshore into Baraga and especially Marquette counties, the addition of healthy forcing/mdt to hvy synoptic snow will result in several hrs of very hvy snowfall from Baraga County to western Alger County, but particularly focused in the high terrain of Marquette County. Should be able to easily tack on another foot+ this aftn/tonight.
  7. Birds were begging for seed. Can't keep it full. Totally buried up here. What I'll do with another foot plus idk...lol The little round hole in the snow is my chimney. It was still exposed yesterday around dark. There's a hollow cove all around the stack. Can't let the fire go out or I'm screwed. Definitely need to do some snow removal on the roof.
  8. Every time I woke up and looked out the window during the night it was just pouring snow. I'd say 10-12" inches fell overnight on top of the 10" yesterday and it's still snowing. There is literally no good place to measure, the snow is so deep and drifted. The WWA says another 12-16 is possible. So the models predicting the 3 feet totals are likely going to be pretty close.. I'll share a few pics after coffee.
  9. I'd estimate 10" has fallen since 7am, maybe even a little more. The enhancement off the lake was heavy most of the day but has become a little more squally this evening as the first wave departs. Seeing reports in the general area of 9-12". 0Z models indicate upwards of 18+ inches of additional snow possible in my neck of the woods by 12Z Wednesday. Safe to say at least another foot is likely. Current temp of 14 is the high.
  10. Houghton area def sees some wild weather. I remember a few years ago Alyssa (formerly Will) who is a poster here from Calumet had something like 36" overnight with a Bayfield Bomber.
  11. Brian D should start the next thread. His original GHD 111 storm thread delivered for a lot of snow starved folks.
  12. That's insane. The closest I've come to experiencing an event like that was the winter of 12-13 living in Antrim County, NW lower. 12 inches of snow fell in 3 1/2 hours when a dominant Lake Superior connected band parked itself over the western part of the county.
  13. Lake enhanced snow on the increase this morning with an almost due east flow off the lake. Forecast is for around 13" today/tonight and another 8" tomorrow. 12z model average for my area is 27". Was a little surprised to just see a WWA but in Marquette County, the forecast messaging leans heavy to the city. A few hi-res models really nail this area with 3 feet over 48 hours... something to watch.
  14. 0Z Model output wasn't friendly to my area. The goods are still delivered but it feels fringy. This might be Brian D's storm.
  15. Assuming models are correct, this setup always delivers here. Expecting 15-24" by the time all is said and done and probably closer to the 24 inches. Made it to 31 today before the front arrived. Temp is now down to 19 with light nw flow lake effect trying to get going. Winds should begin to shift northerly and then north easterly by morning. If the snow unfolds as forecast, there's going to be some impressive depths up here.
  16. The second pic looks the coldest to me. Winter is dark and cold. The first pic offers too much warmth.
  17. After high winds and 6" of new snow yesterday, had partial clearing for a good bit of today before it clouded back over before dark, the current temp of 12 is the high. Above freezing tomorrow for only the second time since Dec 16th and then it looks like 1-2 feet of snow is possible.
  18. 7 degrees with snow and wind moving through. Winter weather adv's all the way to blizzard warnings in effect across the UP. Short video while I was out stocking up on wood.
  19. a week ago there was hardly any. It's been so windy. A couple of calm days and it's exploded.
  20. By most standards Marquette is a small town but it feels much bigger sitting in the middle of the north woods
