  1. 100% this. Looking out the window several times during that three-day stretch while TW at home and seeing light snow falling most of the time was a rare treat here.
  2. Thanks for the dog pic, guys. It made the WSW > WWA > shutout easier to take.
  3. Dog pics, if you're in a sharing mood, never suck. Neither does beer porn.
  4. The drawer pulls on this piece are a particularly nice touch, thematically speaking.
  5. Agreed...good to hear him getting those kind of accums for a change. You guys OTOH have had a rough go of it in recent storms. Only a trace here, but expected.
  6. Ehh, it is what it is -- actually, I feel more for the Baltimore city/county crew, they've gotten screwed on snow more than most this year. You're only a few miles to the west, but glad to see you cash in more in situations like this.
  7. Woke up to find last night's expectations fully realized -- a downgrade to WWA and forecast of 1-3" this morning. Not even buying that. Currently 34/32, mixed snow/rain.
  8. Ehhhh, I don't know. I think I'd be willing to sacrifice a few inches in a storm like this, to have that cabin, in that location, with access to the kind of sunsets that I suspect you have access to.
  9. If you have a chance and get some snow tomorrow, post some pics...always enjoy seeing your work. Currently 49/22, clouds moving in.
  10. Can confirm, wind has picked up that "freight train coming at the back of the house" sound over the past 1-2 hours. Snow's done for now (I think).
  11. Three days in, I don't think I can remember a more tantalizing, annoying, though ultimately (somewhat) satisfying storm to track/observe than this one in the 30+ years I've lived in this area. That historical radar mosaic portrays some of that frustration...and satisfaction...depending on where you were located in the DMV for this. I'm guessing that we probably nickel and dimed our way to 5" total in this corner of FfxCo throughout the past three days, but the staying power of the effects of this storm were really something to behold.
  12. 35F, sun peeking out more, but wind gusts have really kicked up. Pushing that constant drip-drip from the eaves to 45 degree angles...
  13. Temp up to 37, melting has commenced with a vengeance, winds have kicked up more, some pavement even starting to dry. Even with all that and occasionally brighter skies, we've had pretty consistent -SN for the past several hours.
  14. SN still steadily falling, with a bit more wind, with temp at 32. Picked up a fresh 2" over past 8 hours.
  15. Indeed. I know we haven't gotten the kinds of numbers that those 20-30 miles north of us have gotten today, but who cares. Just stepped out onto the back patio and snapped this pic...we've gotten a fresh coating of white (maybe ~ .25" over the past 2 hours?) and I'm glad for that much. While I could bitch for more snow on the ground, I won't...it's a gorgeous winter evening.
  16. Freezing drizzle/rain was more substantial in first half of day than I realized. -SN has turned heavier and steadier in past 30 minutes.
  17. Seriously. Can't tell if @Deck Pic moved to that area permanently from his former location, but...that dusk pic looks like heaven right now.
  18. While accums were negligible in this part of the world, you make light of one of the most interesting aspects of this storm...its longevity. We had a light, though steady snow most of yesterday, turning into sleet/freezing drizzle into the early morning hours today. Had ice and/or light snow from late morning today onward, and this continues on/off. I almost like the long-term storm as much as the huge snow amounts we got during the one-two HECS punch exactly a decade ago. -SN continues here, down to 29.
  19. -SN beginning after a lull of an hour or so. Temps have held steady at 34 most of afternoon, but dropped to 32 within past hour. No new frozen has stuck on any pavement all day...but let's see what happens heading into the post-sunset hours.
  20. I remember talk of thundersnow a couple days ago in the run-up to this storm...any chance there could be some of that in southband band nearing the PA/MD border?
  21. Yep. And then we have those lovely folks who, upon reading our mailing address, sneer at us, "Oh, you don't actually live in Alexandria city, then?" Anyway. We're back to mixed sleet/drizzle here, and I'm just noticing the first snowflakes of the day mixing in...interesting.
  22. Moderate sleet for past 30 min, back to plain drizzle now, holding at 33.
