  1. The Garrett County warning is a beautiful read. Up to 24 inches which would be incredible (although I highly doubt that will occur here in MLP). The upslope after the storm passes doesn't look like something to turn your nose up at either. BTW, thank you for all of your insight! Nights like this don't come around very often.
  2. Yes, I am about 10 miles south of DC lake. I am about a mile away from Broadford Lake. @nj2va is much closer to the lake and about 300 feet higher than me, and it has begun there. Should be any minute. Doing my best to stay awake; at least the Sunday Night NFL game is on.
  3. Still waiting in Mountain Lake Park. DP is 8.6. We've had virga for about 90 minutes. Once it finally gets to the surface, I expect it to accumulate quickly.
  4. Nothing yet but soon I hope. 20.1/8.4 in Mountain Lake Park at the moment. Looks to be a significant storm out here, just like everywhere else. Would do a cartwheel down 219 if LWX's max materialized lol.
  5. OMG! No need to come out here (like, ever)...I'll see you there. There has been a significant storm now for several days and it ain't that far off.
  6. I really hope you do well my friend! Clouds are lowering and thickening here in GC and super excited. I hope you stay SN throughout the whole storm.
  7. 19.0/7.1 with thick cirrus. Drum roll....
  8. Frosty morning with a few flurries. 8.6 and pumped for tonight. Beyond time for everyone to cash tf in!
  9. Wanted to get out of the house so drove to Blackwater Falls in Davis. It was spectacular. Easily 18 inches on the ground and not busy at all. We are all likely getting some snow to scratch that itch, but if you want a wonderful day trip to a winter wonderland tomorrow, I couldn’t recommend this more.
  10. It's been snowing steadily for the last couple hours. What an amazing deep winter day. 12.2 here
  11. Do you work in the brewery? Thinking of swinging by today. Would love to say hi.
  12. Pic taken during a squall last evening. That’s just snow, no real blowing snow at that moment. The trees in the background are about 75-100 feet away from my porch which is where this was taken.
  13. Low of 12 which is what it remains. Light snow with winds gusting to 28 mph. January at its best in the mountains (from my perspective). However, my equator-born husband was less than thrilled to be working outside at Wisp all day lol.
  14. GFS continues to spit out serious amounts in the highlands over the next couple of weeks. I'm up to 7" today and 30" on the year. I hope this rosy outlook verifies - would be like the winters in the 2000s and early 2010s. @jonjon will be buried and us in Oakland/Mountain Lake Park not far behind.
  15. I have done multiple intense LES chases in the past few years but this squall that just moved through was the most intense (albeit brief) snowfall I've ever seen. Easily an inch in the 10-12 minutes it took to move over mby.
  16. I saw (and liked) the pictures on Facebook. The Garrett County/Deep Creek Lake Voice page reposted some really good ones of you guys installing the site. Good stuff - we need more data points out here.
  17. After nearly losing my sh*t this morning watching areas around me get pounded (no comment ravens), snow intensity has really ramped up. Wind has also become a factor. 5” so far today. Everything is well with the world again.
  18. It's absolutely beautiful. It's snowing here steadily now, but it's truly just pixie dust. Amazing what a few miles can do. In the past, I've mirrored your accums fairly closely, with perhaps a little shaved off due to your higher elevation, but this has been really odd. At least it's snowing and not 58 degrees with a brown ski slope.
  19. Nada here. Absolutely nothing lol and I'm 10 miles away.
  20. Hasn't amounted to much in southern Garrett County so far. Under an inch when it was said to be a steady snowfall this morning and not a flake in the last hour. Thinking the Warning level forecast - once again - may be a eenie tiny weenie bit overdone.
  21. Snow began a little before 3 AM but so far, under an inch. Tiny snizzle at the moment and looking west, radar is unimpressive. Going to need a lot of work to get to a warning level event (again).
  22. Hey there! Yes, I do - my husband works at Wisp. He's a ski lift operator during the winter season. And before LWX, we were with Pittsburgh (and to this day, still part of the overall Pittsburgh media market). I have a tremendous amount of respect for Mets in general and LWX in particular, but they really struggle with local forecasts here.
  23. I live here, so I'll post pictures if they are worth folks' time. I am a bit dubious about the forecast, however - they have really struggled this year. The day of our blizzard warning the sun was out most of the day and ended up with only a few inches. The WSW that just expired this morning produced only 2 inches once again county-wide (and that may be a bit generous). So, hopefully the forecast for 6-10 tomorrow verifies. Folks at Wisp have been really frustrated by the forecast misses.
  24. Another Watch up for Garrett County. Hope this one does better than today (which has been rather pitiful). @jonjon how have you guys fared?
