probably to some degree...
-
per the NWS they have had 4-7 inches and could get 3-6 more and there is a flash flood emergency. Looks like maybe half over?
-
It is really early to call it a one storm season and compare it that way when we are not even in September yet. Also the US had another devastating hurricane that year: Iniki.
-
This storm was not expected to still be anywhere near 120mph sustained winds while 25 miles west of NO, right? Wasn't it supposed to be down to 85 or something like that per the NHC forecasts? I ran some errands and came back and I am surprised it held up this well. And that video from Port Fourchon is incredible.
-
Is Jokko still live?
-
Much it not most of that land is actually water.
-
We know he did not have sustained winds of 156mph with gusts to 200. I Immediately just turned it off at that point. Jokko is wakko.
-
What a damn mess. It just needs to keep heading northwest now and delay that northward turn. Better Houma than NO metro.
-
The last half hour nothing was really visible at all. When I could see the strapping that was holding it in place flying around in front of the camera, I knew it was going soon. We will see if the house it was trained on survives.
-
It just dieded. RIP.
-
Nailed the location, and only 5 mph off landfall strength and 4 mb off pressure. (in the guess thread).
-
It has not happened yet-somewhere on the coast/land has to get to the middle of the eye-looks like Port Fourchon is getting close as the coast there is already in the eye.
-
Looks like on radar Port Fourchon is entering the eye.
-
So is that 7 feet above ground level? I wonder what the elevation above sea level is?
-
Yeah but better in the swamps than right into NO or the Mississippi Coast-especially viewing that camera in Grand Isle. Maybe it can sit there awhile and spin down abit/slow down abit before moving on it?
-
Looks like it will be going right into Port Fourchon. I am surprised that camera in Grande Isle is still working. Went to bed at 5am(could not fall asleep as this was intensifying) and just woke up a bit ago not knowing what to expect. Hope it keeps nudging to the west.
-
Not too far off.
-
Looks like it wobbled a bit west.
-
most were off on either strength or landfall position. My take is still in play! I can't believe I am up all night following this thing. RI took off.
-
We really won't know until we know. Everyone(media included)thought NO had escaped...and then the flooding started being known...not to mention that 300+people would have died in MS/etc even if nobody was killed in the NO metro area. Katrina did not look so good coming in. We all know what happened. This is still up in the air somewhat-looking closer and closer to NO proper also. We will just have to wait and see. Hopefully it somehow struggles.
-
I noticed that. The midline now comes in right around Port Fourchon and the storm is later just west of Lake Pontchartrain.
-
There is an off topic thread for IDA also so 3 threads. Talk of shrimp people, shrimp people land, 5 day bans that are then reversed, etc. These threads are making we want shrimp and fries.
-
I do get what you are saying though. It does "seem" like they are saying "no threat"-especially probably to the average reader. Hopefully they will be proven right.
-
They did not exactly say no threat-they hedged their bets with the "little to no" threat.

WTH is with the misogyny on here? This is the second time today that wxtrix(with a female avatar)has been referred to as a guy("dude' and "buddy")when nearly nobody else has been referred to with any term like this. The toxic part here ain't her. You have 181 posts - either you have not been here long or don't post much(like me, been here 15 years)so lighten up. *on topic banter: this storm is going to hit near where I thought, Port Fourchon, but not a as strong/won't make it to cat 5).
