I cannot wait for the cooler temps. I have a lot of outdoor work to do and both Saturday and Sunday, it took just stepping out on to the porch to say "Not today". Waayyy to hot. Nice soaking rains and some cool sunny days will be perfect. Ready for Autumn.

I really hope the 2 inch plus rains pan out as we need the rain.
-
I want some decent rains tomorrow. At least a half an inch-and inch would be better.

How much trouble might Larry cause the Avalon Peninsula/St. John? They might remember it if all goes right(wrong for them). Probably will only graze them though so ya, likely a storm only for the hardcore cane weenies.

It was the climate change denial part. The first paragraph was problematic. Also things have changed and more evidence has accumulated since 2005. It was only a "smh" for that part-the climate denial stuff. There is more to AGW and climate change than hurricane activity in a given location. I probably should have specified what the "smh" was directed at. It was just for part of the first paragraph. I did remove the "weenie" I gave the post since I did not have a problem with the rest of it.

It looks crazy as a shithouse rat in this pic! Glad it is for the fishes.

smh.

Apparently out of 59 direct deaths 50 were in the strip from Virginia to Connecticut. only 7 in Louisiana and 2 in Mississippi.
-
Looks like it might get that given it is expected to reach 140 mph. Lets hope it stays away from land(including Bermuda).

So it looks like nearly 60 directly related storm fatalities. Who would have thought that about 75% of those would happen in the Northeast? I think this storm has already topped 50 billion in damage as well. Maybe the extreme flooding caught so many people off guard because there had just been an extreme flooding event two weeks ago, with "records" being broken and all, and the flash flooding was bad but you did not have the fatalities? It would be understandable for people to think that it would not be as bad as what had just happened, and that even if it came close, again there would be damage but nothing like what actually happened? Nobody thought that the new 1 hour rainfall record in Central Park would be shattered by another storm just two weeks later-nobody was thinking that could happen. Just really bad timing- a horrible flooding tropical system, and then just a couple weeks later, and even worse system.

I don't believe it was ever an official F-5. I think it was high end F-4. I think there has been debate and it was considered and reevaluated but was left as a high end F-4. Unbelievable what NYC has been going through. Breaking the 1 hour rainfall record at Central Park, and then shortly after shattering the new record. Damn!

Got about an inch last night. About what I wanted. Now for some great sunny cooler weather!

Don't forget I-da-hoe.

Yeah this one is being retired for sure. You gotta admit that "Ida" just seemed like an old fashioned badass name for a hurricane and it lived up to the name. I wonder what the "I" replacement name is-I hope it is not lame. *I just looked it up...I hope it was wrong...it said the replacement name is "Izzy". ??? *huh..."I" storms have had the most names retired of any letter.
-
Well now it looks like almost nothing from the Ida remnants. I should have kept my mouth shut.
-
The storm is moving more and to the NW now...will these bands shift over NO? or will they die out?
-
Katrina, Harvey, Maria, that storm that shall not be named in the Mid-Atlantic/NE area, and Irma if you are talking about $$$ damages are the top five I think. This would need to be over 50 billion.

There have been several unreliable sources and disputed accounts of things posted. People should check what they are posting instead of just posting anything they see online immediately.

The flooding was not being reported at that time, was it? Are we sure this is not fake news here?
-
As of the 10pm CDT NHC advisory it is still at 953 mb and 105 mph sustained winds.
-
I don't believe it is. It is not according to the maps of that system I am pulling up. It iappears it is west of where that system ends.
-
Hurricanes don't seem to like it. Andrew in 92 threw out an F-3 deadly tornado there.
-
That address is not some isolated area either. That is right in the middle of it surrounded by thousands of other houses.
-
After the storm fine. Until then, if worst comes to worst, the marine life/and fauna will be stressed and need food sources too-think of the wildlife and the animals! Think of the shrimp!

The airport is west of there(at least 5 miles) and they have been getting gusts recently up to 90 mph so probably not quite as bad there.
