  1. Because the ridging psuedo block in atlantic canada ahead of the upper level low weakened with time. Why do you think that trend has anything to do with this storm?
  2. Do not trust a hope; it has forsaken these lands.
  3. Interesting. It does make sense to me. There been a lot of talk about IKE (integrated kinetic energy) over the last several years to get such to get a more accurate idea for damage assessment.
  4. Plus I wouldn't call the gfs a good weather model either. Canadians have icon outperforming gfs at 24 h and on par at 120 h at 500.
  5. It's like 1.25 to 1.5" of qpf. It's more than that verbatim.
  6. Icon late blooms east and gives eastern new england decent snows before hitting ns and central newfoundland hard.
  7. I mean initially it could be right but yeah I'd think it would stop its northeast movement as the low cranked and heights crashed.
  8. It's not the maps. It's the model. 925t is torched ahead of the low. I think it's mostly wrong but it's not an clown map error.
  9. I'm pretty sure miller Bs are less predictable anyway. Northern stream is tougher for models to handle than the southern.
  10. I think it's a long shot for coastal areas. Just a lot of things going against it.
  11. That was written about the model a long time ago. We sure that's still the case?
  12. Yeah. I mean if were being honest here its congrats eastern new Brunswick. atlantic canada would get some snow to start and then it would change to rain.
  13. St. John's. Eastern Newfoundland. I mean even even for ns...you aren't getting a great solution if the low is plowing into halifax.
  14. Pivotalwx has really made it nice for doing more detailed analysis on the best verifying models out there. You aren't as hamstrung using worse models because of amount of detail available with them (Nam and gfs, for example).
  15. If the model isn't right synoptically speaking then doing detailed analysis on it is not going to be fruitful.
  16. Yeah it's not even a good one...unless you're in western ne and eny.
  17. I thought I heard faint screams from the mid atlantic...
  18. Ah yes the twitter confirmation of real news. Lol. Sucks though. Looks real. Only reporter by tmz so far.
  19. It actually was kinda more dangerous being a kid or a women back then up through the 80s. Serial killers kinda ran unchecked without DNA solving and kid disappearances weren't treated as a serious thing. And the murder rate was considerably higher.
