    As predicted the cool front that separates dew points in the mid 60’s across eastern PA and western NJ from the mid 70’s in the metro area is situated on a line from about Philadelphia to north central NJ. The dew point here has dropped 8 degrees since midnight.

    The dew point front that Walt referred to earlier looks to run from about the Harrisburg area on up to the area west of Scranton. In any case that line to my north and west is definitely going to make things interesting in NW NJ and SE NY this evening.

    This is a view of the convection to my west.

    Since my last post there has been new convective development to the south of the cell now near Hazleton. Now there is a line swinging towards the East towards the west side of Allentown and places north of there. Radar shows this nicely. Very rapidly evolving development this evening out here.

    With the exception of the big cell just east of Pottsville there is nothing much to speak of in eastern PA right now. Visible satellite confirms that. We had plenty of towering CU and some showers a couple of hours ago but that has mainly cleared out.

    Going to be a very interesting 3 day period upcoming here in eastern PA with the expected rainfall from Isaias. Good model agreement on an axis of heavy rainfall totals across eastern PA and NJ with totals of 2-4”+ just with the tropical storm.

    Storm weakened as it passed Allentown. It’s done here with patches of blue sky overhead. 0.45” with this round.

    Heavy rain and continuous thunder ongoing here. Lightning is CTC. You folks in western NJ need to watch out for this activity.

    I am in Bethlehem Twp. PA, waiting on that Tornado warned cell just to my SW. Getting nonstop thunder at the moment. It is going to be a very interesting day...

    Nothing dramatic with this line as it passes through here. No strong winds or torrential downpours. The line that passed through late last evening was much more impressive- especially in terms of the downpours associated with it. Lightning here is mainly CTC.

    We are off to a good start tonight with the downpours moving through this area. Have picked up 0.52” with ponding on the roadways.

    The downpours moving East from the Lehigh Valley into western NJ mean business. We just picked up a quick 0.52”. Hopefully these can hold together as they work further to the East.

    With some mixing and downsloping from the Poconos off to my north and west the dew point has actually dropped some this afternoon and is now down to 68. Big difference from the 78 that has been reached at many places out on the south shore.

    The station at Cherry Grove on Fire Island just measured a gust to 46 mph with the squall passing out towards the ocean.

    0.37” with the downpour that passed my station on Fire Island a short time ago.

    The line of convection which is now just south of me has greatly ramped up the lightning activity in the past 10 minutes. There is continuous lightning and thunder underway for the folks in Bucks Cty, PA and Hunterdon Cty, NJ at this time.

    Nice downpour with the convection out here in Bethlehem PA. Nothing major with the wind -22mph and not a whole lot of CTC. We scored with the rain 0.75” which was much needed.

    Orographically induced convection out here. The activity NW of Allentown is now forming along Blue Mountain. As impressive as the radar looked an hour ago to my south west we still did not even measure. Not too surprising.

    Impressive line of storms just to my south west not far from Allentown. These storms have popped along a ridge line that runs in the same orientation as the that of the storms. I am waiting to see if they hold their intensity as they approach my area.
