  1. Jeez, SLK got to 44F last night. It was 60F here last night.
  2. We like this boring... tomorrow and Friday should be spectacular. BTV- “Thursday will be a beautiful day as high pressure builds to our west, imparting cool northerly winds. Skies will be clear with no chance for rain. Highs should top in the mid 70s to lower 80s. The diurnal curve will be steep with plenty of dry air, mid-level high in place, and light northerly winds. Expect lows in the 50s across the valleys, with 40s across higher terrain. The ECMWF is even suggesting a low temperature of 39 at SLK.”
  3. This makes zero sense. Different instruments.
  4. I’ve always just thought it’s because that’s where the prevailing jet is in summer...often located across S. Quebec so you get synoptic scale energy traversing through there regularly while down south you are waiting for a FROPA?
  5. Hard to tell, but a lot of that error looks to occur during summer months? Hard to see on the graph given the yearly output, but it looks like it’s the same time frame when it starts to drift.
  6. .5" to .6" around town for rainfall today. Just enough to quickly pool the fields and lawns, before evaporating into a humid evening.
  7. 1 kayaker died this evening on Champlain, and 1 has been missing since the storms hit around 5pm. Coast Guard plane from Cape Cod responding at request of the Burlington CG. Sounds like they were searching via helicopter prior to sunset.
  8. Yeah wasn't that the uber humid summer, where night's were in the 70s a lot of times for the masses?
  9. Do the 2 missing days factor into this? 2013 looks like it was pretty hot in CT.
  10. 68F beautiful rain-cooled air this evening. The past two days surprised me with how hot they got. 86F Sunday, 87F yesterday and at least 89F today. Average high is 80F for MVL.
  11. Even 13 at HFD... jeez that’s almost half the days of the month with maxes 90+. Looks like 14 days at BAF of 90+.
  12. Another cell moving this way that was just warned... just padding the July rainfall stats here at the end of the month. First one was 0.44”, might get us over 5” on the month.
  13. I only take pics of half inch to one inch upslope dustings on cars in dark ski area parking lots . Unfortunately I was just running around closing the car and house windows, making sure the garden stakes were well in the ground before it started to pour. It moved in pretty quick. Didn't see any shelf clouds or anything overly cool or I would've. A video of the storm arrival would've been better.
  14. Man, another pretty direct hit here. Twice in 3 days. The garden is getting thrashed right now. Sub-severe wind but definitely 30-40mph for several minutes along the front of this.
  15. Pitch black out... I mean it's like nighttime. Holy wind. Shit. Don't want to lose power.
  16. About to go for a hike at 86/67 in the valley. Probably 5 pounds of water lost in sweat in a few hours lol.
  17. Roughly 4.5” rain this month over here.
  18. That's insane. Sustained dews in the 30s and 40s for several periods. That chamber, low dew, shot around the 19th to 22nd...nearing peak climo for the year. Pretty impressive.
  19. Very overnight heavy there at ORH... cool nights with dewier afternoons? As opposed to BTV... dews at night, drier by day.
  20. Thanks. Looks much lower (total hours) than CON, especially in the 1960-1980... though that time frame looked to contain a lot of Chamber summers at both locations. Not hard to imagine why CON has more low dew periods than BTV. Locally here at MVL we would spend significantly more time with dews in the 40s than BTV and the majority of that difference would come overnight. During the mid-afternoon, both MVL and BTV can see dews in the 40s, but MVL will radiate down to that level and hold there for a while, racking up those hours while BTV sees 60/52 overnight with dew point pooling on the climo southerly flow during summer. There's also a giant lake that's 7-miles wide by Burlington, taking up a large part of the valley, that probably doesn't help dry it out in the summer.
  21. Can you run 40 dews for BTV? Curious what that historical record looks like. Are the dews increasing there at the same rate as the temps? We had 40s dews on at least 3 days this July up at MVL. I can safely say to radiate to 43F in July, there are some 40s dews around the previous afternoon.
  22. Definition of COC changes for sure based on what we are used to. In March, a sunny day of 50F is gorgeous and has college coeds walking sundresses past Tippy. In May, 70/40 is perfect. July it could be 82/58 that feels amazing. By September it’s back to 70s/40s or even 30s.
  23. Been dry for a bit but finally got another soaker yesterday with the storms. Severe wind damage in an axis from Barrows Rd by the Stowe High School (trees down across the road) and it continued to Holmes Lane and Shaw Hill near the Lower Village with trees/wires down. Pretty much most of the town lost power yesterday as the transmission lines run through there. Ended up with a solid soaking rain though, the CoCoRAHS station near the village center had 1.17”, but I’m not sure where the other Stowe station was that had 1.55”. Up to 4.22” on the month, probably close to average for a summer month is roughly 1”/week?
