  1. Gorgeous morning. 28 degrees and about 1.1”. Lightly snowing. Heading for a walk through the woods shortly. Can’t help but post the standard deck pic.
  2. Wait, isn’t it more fun if PSU tells us why it’ll never snow again here?
  3. 0.3” so far. Good to see dendrites mixed in with the smaller flakes. 28 degrees.
  4. Didn’t you see Wonka on a screen?
  5. Flurries started here about 30 minutes ago, borderline SN- now. 29 degrees.
  6. Yeah that was some strong confluence in NE, was about to post about the same. I don’t hate where we sit 200 hours out though.
  7. It gave MS snow on that run lol. Let’s see what the ensembles show.
  8. Maybe we can get that storm to bomb out and act as a 50/50 low for the next wave incoming.
  9. At 120, there’s more interaction with the NS vort at 500. Ridge over the mountain west a bit higher this run too. ETA: Not gonna do it. Mountains get decent upslope from the NS vort/low.
  10. Now you’ve done it, get ready for a 10 paragraph essay about how winter is over if that happens.
  11. Unless things turn around……8 days into winter?
  12. Bears watching on the EPS for next Thursday. Verbatim stays offshore but there’s a handful of members that are interesting. Surface temps too warm. Instead of worrying about the 384H long range models, I’ll stay focused on two potential windows next week. eta: ninja’d by NA101
  13. If you’re done, why post in the LR thread?
  14. Also, looks like continued run over run improvements in the NAO domain on the GEFS.
  15. I like seeing these run over run changes at 500 on the GEFS for the possible threat next weekend. Deeper trough over the SE.
  16. WWA posted for Garrett and western Grant counties. I assume Pitt and Charleston will follow for Canaan and Snowshoe. MDZ001-WVZ501-300100- /O.NEW.KLWX.WW.Y.0026.231230T0600Z-231231T0000Z/ Garrett-Western Grant- 1158 AM EST Fri Dec 29 2023 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 7 PM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. The highest accumulations will be in western Garrett County and far western Grant County. * WHERE...In Maryland, Garrett County. In West Virginia, Western Grant County. * WHEN...From 1 AM to 7 PM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow showers will increase in coverage overnight and continue through the day on Saturday.
  17. Yeah, looks like a couple inches but 200+ hours out, I don’t really care what the snowmaps show. Just nice to see the threat at this stage.
  18. Yep, absolutely. That map aligns well with the Euro which is generally 4-6” along the mountains from WV up to MD through New Years Day.
  19. The first rule of the Panic Room, is you don’t talk about the Panic Room.
  20. Currently 28 and woke up to a dusting of snow on the deck/roof/car. Forecast calling for 2-3” of upslope through Sunday AM (with more forecast Sunday night/overnight). Hopefully the snow showers and colder temps this weekend can help Canaan/Wisp salvage the rest of the holiday period.
  21. Easier to get caught up in the doom and gloom.
  22. I was exaggerating…I just don’t get the doom and gloom at December 28. Yes it sucks we haven’t had an area wide storm yet but I remain confident we’ll get snow this winter. We are literally a week into actual winter, lol.
  23. Apparently it’s easier for everyone to freak out and claim it will never snow ever again.
  24. Yes, if it shows digital blue, all will be fine again.
  25. Holy moly, $46k? We replaced our existing wooden deck (that was part of the original build of the house in 2006) with a Trex deck this summer for ~$30k and it took 4 weeks to finish. We used a local contractor that came recommended to us from other contractors we’ve used for projects on our house. I think real estate is wildly overpriced here but its all driven by demand of the lake, Wisp, and four season activities. As long as rental demand continues to be high, prices won’t budge much. This is a pendulum so I do think eventually the market will saturate and/or a recession will hit that cuts back on second home/investment property activity and vacations. Even with the improvements we’ve made, we’d still make a hefty profit from what we bought at in 2016 with how high prices have ballooned. And its not just here - even Canaan has seen prices rise dramatically since covid.
