  1. Yes, their tentative opening date this year is Nov 22(ish), weather dependent. The number of trails open around NYE/Christmas is dependent on how much natural snow falls in December/if conditions support man-made snow too. We spend New Years at Deep Creek each year and spend a few days skiing. I think it was two (or three) years ago where we had about 12-15” of fresh snowfall during that time so it was great conditions. Last year was warm (relatively) and not the best conditions but it was still open.
  2. They’re some of the best in the business. They’ll figure it out. It’ll make the forecast discussion more interesting since there will be way more mentions of snow throughout winter.
  3. Yeah, 33 has been the coldest low so far. Forecast is upper 20s to low 30s in the county tonight. multiple frosts but first widespread freeze tonight (freeze warning for Cumberland/west).
  4. 39/33. On the way to the first freeze.
  5. Nice! NWS Pitt is not nearly as good as LWX. Garrett County is also trying to get Baltimore stations added as an option out here since it’s all Pittsburgh tv stations.
  6. It was fun scrolling through a few of these pages. I almost forgot what’s it like to track a region-wide event.
  7. It’s no surprise why school enrollment in public schools (at least around here in NoVA) is down this year. School leaders have failed students and parents IMO.
  8. Freeze watch posted for the Mountains and 81 corridor in VA.
  9. Looks like I'll be spending Halloween in Deep Creek. A foot of snow and a bag of Reese's Cups sounds great.
  10. I think @CAPE will stress about his rain soaked mosquito bog based on the models.
  11. I think you missed the point of my post.
  12. Tracking winter used to be way more fun before these long range seasonal models came around.
  13. 0.2” total. GFS did the best while the Euro and especially the NAM twins were way too wet.
  14. Agree with that. Head scratcher for sure.
  15. Bad call on the final play of the SNF game.
  16. 0.15” here. I love sitting on the porch listening to the light rain fall.
  17. Euro has caved to the GFS out here. Now showing only about 0.3”. We’ve just had some drizzle/light rain here amounting to a big fat 0.01”.
  18. GFS is on an island of its own out here. Barely 0.3” with the others all showing 1-2”+. Maybe an early preview of model wars for our blockbuster winter.
  19. Another shot from the scenic overlook on 219 near the High School.
  20. Best foliage in years...dry weather has helped bring out the colors. Lots of people here for Autumn Glory. Here’s a random farmhouse near Oakland.
  21. 12z NAM shifted totals SE. I went from 3.5” (yeah right) at 6z to 1.25” at 12z here in Deep Creek. Basically all of the area outside of the mountains are 2”+ on the 12z NAM though. Still welcomed rain here.
  22. Just got to Deep Creek. Peak foliage here this weekend in time for the annual Autumn Glory festival....will take a few pics when I’m out and about. Great weekend for WxUSAF to also be in the area (not great weather unfortunately).
