We just got to McHenry...currently 17 degrees. Measured anywhere between 5”-12” of snow depth depending on location due to wind/blowing snow. @jaydreb

What could go wrong? Let’s see what the GEFS says but you could see the evolution just on H5 and it was screaming east coast threat. The closed 500 low north of MN was atypical for this area to see snow (I think) but DC got digital snow so who cares!

GFS cooking something up next weekend. LP forming off OBX with a closed 500 low over eastern TN/KY.

That is some torrential rain verbatim on the 00z GFS for NYE/NYD. 2-4” of rain across the area. Almost a carbon copy of yesterday.

Snow is ripping right now at Deep Creek on my Ring cams. 8 degrees with a -4 WC. Can’t wait to get out there tomorrow. Merry Christmas!

Yeah, unfortunately the EPS wasn’t biting on the OP’s idea. I counted a handful of solutions that suggested something even close to what the OP was depicting.

I’ll take the Euro OP’s depiction over the GFS, please. Pops a low on the southern part of the front and keeps the mountains frozen. That depiction would keep western areas outside the mountains in the game for frozen too vs the GFS cold chasing precip front setup.

Winds just shifted out of the NW at the house in deep creek. Temp dropping like a rock. And snowing now too. here near the jersey shore, the winds are roaring.

Morgantown winds flipped out of the NW. getting closer to Deep Creek and Canaan.

Went to 4pm mass, just finished dinner, time to pour more wine and pretend the 18z cutters are all coastal crawlers.

42 in Deep Creek. Looks like Pittsburgh is close to flipping to frozen.

Up to 40 at deep creek with mod/heavy rain on radar. I’m under a high wind warning at my parents place in ocean county, NJ for 60 mph wind gusts. Wild.
