  1. Got my first one on my shoulder - it was itchy yesterday but today has seemed to calm down. Yuck.
  2. That was a great storm. I was at Orangetheory during it but it looked fun from inside.
  3. Warning out for the storm entering the beltway in VA.
  4. Thanks for the tip! We'll make sure to bring plenty.
  5. Yes, you notice a lot of NY/NJ plates especially in the northern towns of Corolla/Duck - I think they started coming down in droves after Sandy and it hasn't slowed down.
  6. I kinda like how schools down here start in mid/late August but 8/9 seems crazy early. My nieces/nephews who all live in NJ still start after Labor Day (that was always the first day of school growing up there for me) - which unfortunately means our vacation in the OBX in two weeks will be filled with folks from NY and NJ.
  7. Yeah, earliest I can remember around here. Friends of ours that live there are celebrating tonight…they’re ready for the kids to get outta the house everyday.
  8. The first local district is back to school tomorrow (Stafford County) with most of the other NoVA districts starting on the 23rd - first sign of fall (besides the countless pumpkin beer and fall decor in stores).

    Winter 2021-22

You’ve got it covered by the answers already but we average 110” a year in McHenry which ranges in elevation from 2700-3100’ ASL. Down near Davis has higher elevation so does even better. But really, anywhere in the county especially the western part of it will be night/day from what you’re used to. It still amazes me as we cross into the county on 68, and it goes from 38 and rain in Frostburg to 28 and snow immediately. And the area actually doesn’t cash in on nor’easters unless it tracks over land and we get into higher QPF but where we cash in on nor’easters is 1) higher ratios 2) orographic enhancement and 3) upslope as the low exits to the NE out of the area and winds come out of the NW
  10. Been a steady rain here - good soaker kind for the garden.
  11. Looks like the skies ready to open up here. Drought!!3!2!4!4!!!!!!
  12. Be vigilant. It might be 93 degrees!!!!!!
  13. We’ll need something to complain about here
  14. That’s some crazy high QPF. From the NWS forecast discussion, looks like a stalled front is draped over the region allowing multiple lows to ride up along it. Hopefully y’all still have a good time despite the weather and there are some better days later this week. https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=MHX&issuedby=MHX&product=AFD&format=CI&version=1&glossary=1&highlight=off At least you’re on vacation! Could be worse I guess
  15. Yep, this has not been a hot summer at all. Very mild.
  16. GFS OP has a 954MB hurricane at the end of its run sitting well off the SE coast. Coincides with earlier posts about a favorable August. Keep that sht away from OBX as we’ll be there in 3 weeks.
  17. A gorgeous 70/62 in Deep Creek under partly cloudy skies and 10-15 mph winds out of NNW.
  18. Been getting a steady stream of heavy downpours the last hour here in Deep Creek. Some T&L earlier. Nice to listen to with the windows open.
  19. Yep, that was an unexpected one for me until I saw the sky lighting up to the north/west (hadn't been tracking the radar). Got about an 1" from that based on nearby reports!
  20. Has @EastCoast NPZ taken over your account?
  21. We watched A Quiet Place 2 last weekend on Paramount+. Honestly, we never went to the movies much over the last 5 years but I'm not sure I'll be back ever. There's enough streaming content to hold you over until the theatrical release is available (if its not available the same day as theatres which is the case for many things now). And movies just aren't good enough to warrant paying $12 (or whatever) per person to watch in a theatre.
  22. Yeah, this hasn't been an excessively hot summer at all for DC standards. Actually, quite 'average'.
  23. At least you won’t be at work, could always be worse
  24. Ovi resigned to 5 year $47.5 million contract.
