  1. I always joke predict 1"-100". Who knew I came so close to busting on the low end. LOL
  2. He still has stuff that is free to view out there.
  3. Page clicks are what drives ad revenue. That is what JB care about these days. The ad revenue.
  4. JB is also all about the page clicks these days, as it generates revenue. No one wants to hear about boring, warm, dry weather. They want to hear about cold, snow. Hot, stormy, etc. So that is what he looks for in the models, looking for something in them so he can come up with a cold, snowy forecast.
  5. Nothing but white rain here in Astoria. Snow instantly melted no matter what surface it touched, trees, cars, grass, sidewalks, pavement.
  6. With average temps around 50 now, you need a deep arctic blast that will lower temps to 20 degrees below normal to get any snowfall opportunities going forward for NYC.
  7. Don't hold your breath on that one.
  8. The soundings for this storm for NYC/LI are godawful for this upcoming song.
  9. Cut those numbers in half, as our ratios will be about 5:1, especially close to the coast.
  10. Is it fair to say that we need to get tonight's storm out of the way, before we really know what is going to happen with the Mon/Tues system?
  11. What time was that? I was up by 8:15am and didn't see anything at all.
  12. I don't think I saw a flake, or an ice pellet by me. Ground was wet, but no signs of snow anywhere, even in shaded grassy areas.
  13. So now that we are safe in NYC from setting an all time lowest snowfall record, how much more snow will we get this year? What are people's thoughts on this? We are going to start to run out of chances IMHO to get any significant snow. Of course we can always get an April surprise, but those are usually not the norm.
  14. I live stone's throw from LGA, and I wonder if their total was actually high. I don't think we got 2.7" here
  15. Cut those numbers down in NYC/LI for an 8:1 ratio.
  16. Grassy areas are covered. Sidewalks, streets are not.
  17. Temp dropped to 33 here in Astoria. Snow sticking to cars, grass, colder surfaces. Streets, sidewalks are still mostly wet.
  18. Light snow/rain here in Astoria. Nothing sticking, even to colder surfaces.
  19. Makes sense since air temps have been above normal all winter.
  20. Got to get that wind to swing around. An ESE wind won't cut it for snow for LI/NYC.
  21. But that is at 10:1. I don't think we will get those ratios with the borderline temps predicted. more like 8:1.
  22. I was looking at some of the soundings for the Mon night/Tues AM storm. I am not impressed with the amount of cold air that they are showing. Some even show a nose of warm air at the mid levels, which could lead to lower snow fall totals, as the precip melts when it goes thru it. Thoughts?
  23. They do have to deal with the ground regularly shaking, and opening up.
