I was told once that sometimes it take a little bit of time for the winds to catch up with a rapidly deepening storm. Not a real long time, but a couple of hours at most.

I went to Jones beach yesterday. Got there a little after low tide, so the water line was low down the beach. Nice breeze, temps in the 70s. I love listening to the waves crash in.

I wonder if the smoke is putting a cap on any thunderstorms, acting like a stable layer higher up in the atmosphere. Making any storms low topped.
