go touch a cement wall that was exposed to Sun light just after the sun sets...it is significantly warmer than the air temp...it's like an open oven...

the warmer Septembers run in cycles although they are getting warmer on average...we are in a cycle where we are getting more cold March's and more warmer Septembers...throughout the years NYC has seen its hottest temperature of the year in September...1914 and 1895 had its hottest temp near the first day of the Fall... central park has been on a warming trend for years...this decade could end up with the most 90+ days despite to much foliage...three of the last four years had at least 20 or more 90 degree days...the last time that happened was in the 1950's... 90 degrees days...... a neg nao is no guarantee the winter will be snowy...the 1962-63 winter is a good example of that...

the negative nao continues...I think it's the longest negative streak in a long time...the 1960's had a few long streaks but it was during the winter months...the greatest neg run looks like it started on Nov. 29th 1968 to March 27th 1969...116 of 119 days with a neg nao...only Dec 13th 1968 and Feb 9th-10th 1969 were positive days...Feb 9th-10th, 1969 was the date of the Lindsay storm that gave JFK over 20" of cement...

when I moved to Staten Island from Brooklyn I noticed daytime highs were a little higher and night time lows a little lower...I had a 90 degree day in March 1998 and a 100 degree day in April 2002...now i'm in a different location on the island and it's still a hot spot...91 presently here...
